Mexico golf, clifftop fairways above the Pacific at Los Cabos
Los Cabos & the Riviera Maya · 3 courses to build around

Mexico Golf Holidays

Two coasts, two very different golf trips. The Pacific desert of Los Cabos serves up dramatic cliffside Nicklaus and Davis Love designs; the Caribbean jungle of the Riviera Maya hides a PGA Tour host among the mangroves. Here is how we build a Mexico golf trip.

Who this trip suits

Mexico rewards the group that wants its golf big and scenic. Los Cabos is the headline act: a short desert corridor at the tip of Baja where the Pacific crashes against cliffs and the courses are routed to make the most of it. Quivira clings to the headland above Cabo San Lucas, Diamante runs through Pacific dunes, and a clutch of Nicklaus and Fazio layouts fill in between. You can play four contrasting rounds without a transfer longer than half an hour.

The Riviera Maya near Cancun is the other Mexico, jungle and cenotes rather than desert and ocean, and it suits the trip that pairs golf with a beach resort and a family. Its showpiece is El Camaleon at Mayakoba, the first course in Mexico to host a regular PGA Tour event. Cabo leans toward serious golfers and buddies trips; the Riviera Maya works beautifully for couples and mixed groups who want one or two memorable rounds around a longer holiday.

A sample five night structure

Day one, fly into Los Cabos and settle into a resort on the corridor between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Day two, Quivira on the headland, then a long lunch above the marina. Day three, Diamante out in the Pacific dunes for those staying on the estate, or a Nicklaus layout on the corridor. Day four, a rest day for the beach, a panga fishing trip or the town. Day five, a final round before flying home, or extend east to Mayakoba for the Caribbean leg.

When to go

October to May is prime in Los Cabos, dry, warm and reliably sunny, with the marquee tee sheets busiest from January to April. The Riviera Maya plays year round but is most comfortable December to April. Summer is hot and humid on both coasts, with the occasional Pacific storm, but green fees fall sharply. Book the headline Cabo courses several weeks ahead in high season.

Indicative costs

Green fees and what a trip costs

These are third party green fees for the 2026 season, gathered at the time of writing and offered as a guide, not a quote. Rates move with season, day and tee time, and twilight is cheaper. Some of the best Cabo courses are private to resort guests and homeowners, so access comes with where you stay. Always confirm directly before booking.
