Querencia Golf Club
One of only two Tom Fazio designs in Mexico, Querencia opened in 2000 within an 840 acre private estate above the Sea of Cortez. A par 72 of about 7,070 yards, it climbs a high desert plateau between Palmilla and Costa Azul, and it remains one of the most exclusive and quietly admired clubs in Los Cabos.

The verdict
Los Cabos is full of headline resort courses, but Querencia is the one the locals whisper about. Tom Fazio routed it in 2000 across the rugged high desert of an 840 acre private community above the Sea of Cortez, and it is one of only two Fazio designs in the country. Where the famous Cabo courses chase ocean drama, Querencia trades on Fazio's signature: immaculate conditioning, generous fairways and beautifully scaled green complexes set into the cactus and arroyos of the Baja landscape.
At about 7,070 yards off the back tees it is a proper test, yet it is the playability and the polish that visitors remember. It is also strictly private, a members and guests club rather than a resort course, which gives it a calm exclusivity rare in a busy golf destination. For the traveling golfer it is a prize to be arranged rather than simply booked, best paired with the open access greats of the Cabo corridor.

Designer, opening year, par and yardage verified June 2026 from Top 100 Golf Courses, Planet Golf and leading course databases. The course was designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2000, a par 72 of about 7,070 yards. Querencia is a strictly private club within a residential estate with no public green fee; any access is through membership or a member's invitation, so always confirm arrangements directly well before travelling.
The holes worth the trip
Querencia is classic Tom Fazio: the routing flows naturally with the contours of the plateau, the contoured fairways are framed by ancient cacti and palms, and there is just enough width to tempt the brave line while punishing the careless one. The desert vegetation does the defending, so the strategy is about choosing the right side of generous fairways for the angle into greens of subtle, well judged movement.
The set of par 3s is a highlight. The short 14th is the shortest of them at around 164 yards, but its green sits perched on a ridge above an arroyo, which makes it the most demanding of the one shotters and a beautiful, nervy swing late in the round. Throughout, the elevation changes open up long views down to the Sea of Cortez, the kind of backdrop that makes a Baja round feel like nowhere else.
It is a course that rewards good ball striking and clear thinking rather than brute strength, and the conditioning is consistently among the best in Mexico. Quiet, polished and private, it is the connoisseur's round in a destination better known for its resort golf.
