A links style Arthur Hills course tumbling through pine and dunes above the Atlantic at Cascais, near Lisbon, and often rated the best in the country. One of the most romantic rounds in Portugal, a Joseph Lee design winding along the Ria Formosa nature reserve with the back nine running beside the lagoon and the sea. Quiet, exclusive and reserved largely for guests of the neighbouring Dona Filipa hotel, it offers a peaceful, special day for two away from the busier resort courses. Birdsong, water and not much else.
The pick of the Silver Coast north of Lisbon, a Cabell Robinson course running through pine and dunes with wide Atlantic views toward the Berlengas Islands. It gives a couple the polish and dining of Quinta do Lago with a quieter, more private base, and plenty of golf without ever feeling busy. An understated, comfortable choice.
