The Best Golf Courses in Riga
Riga is the quiet overachiever of Baltic golf. Latvia's capital holds the only Nicklaus Design course in the three Baltic states, a full 18 holes inside the city limits owned by a Stanley Cup winner, and the country's original club a short hop from the airport, all of it walkable, affordable and gloriously uncrowded. The season runs May to October, and in June the white nights stretch the evening light so far that a second round after dinner is a genuine plan, not a joke. Here are the courses that matter, ranked, plus the one Estonian links that turns a city break into a proper Baltic golf trip.

How we chose
This list was researched and written by the GolfForKings editorial desk, and every designer, opening year, host event and green fee on it was checked against club and federation sources in June 2026. Riga's golf scene is compact, three real venues within half an hour of the old town, so rather than pad the ranking with driving ranges we kept it honest: the courses below are the ones a traveling golfer would actually play, weighed on design quality first, then conditioning, facilities and the pleasure of the day. We also added one course across the Estonian border, because no serious golfer comes this far north without hearing about it, and the drive is easy.
Access is refreshingly simple by European capital standards. Nothing near Riga hides behind a members only gate; every course on this list publishes its fees and takes visitor bookings, and the most expensive 18 holes in the country costs less than a single round at most resort courses in Spain or Portugal. The fees quoted are the clubs' published 2026 season rates, indicative rather than guaranteed, so always confirm directly before booking. Play from May to October; June and July bring the long northern evenings, while September is quieter and often the best conditioned month of the year.
The best near Riga, ranked
Jurmala Golf Club & Hotel
The flagship of Baltic golf. Built on the site of the former Saliena course, a Pekka Wesaama design from 2007, the property was completely rebuilt by Nicklaus Design and reopened in late 2018 as the first and only Nicklaus Design course in the Baltic states. The 18 hole Jurmala Course is a links style par 72 of 6,384 meters from the tips, all fescue rough, white sand bunkering and water, with a 9 hole par 3 Academy course alongside and a smart hotel on the grounds minutes from Riga airport. The pedigree is already showing: the club hosted the 2024 European Mid Amateur Championships. The 2026 green fee is 99 euros for 18 holes, April to October, with hotel guests taking 20 percent off; always confirm directly before booking.
Access: public, book ahead in summer. Check tee times.
Ozo Golf Club
The city course, and a genuine rarity: a full 18 holes inside the limits of a European capital. Ozo opened in 2002 as Latvia's first 18 hole course and belongs to Sandis Ozolins, the Latvian defenseman who won the Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche in 1996 and whose nickname gives the club its name. The layout is open and water laced, with ponds threatening on a large share of the holes, and the clubhouse, restaurant and floodlit range make it the natural base for a golfer staying in the center. Published 2026 green fees are 75 euros for 18 holes Monday to Thursday and 90 euros Friday to Sunday, indicative for the season; always confirm directly before booking. Our verdict: the easiest good golf in the city, ten minutes from your hotel.
Access: public; book online or call. Check tee times.
Golf Club Viesturi
The cradle of Latvian golf. Viesturi, founded in 1998 in the quiet farm country at Jaunmarupe near the airport, is the oldest golf club in the country and the place where the Latvian game grew up. The course is nine holes, par 35 and about 2,559 yards, set against forest with enough variety in the shotmaking to reward a second loop, and the clubhouse, with its pro shop, restaurant and sauna, has a warmth the bigger venues cannot fake. Our verdict: not a championship test and not pretending to be one, but a charming half day that belongs on any list of nine hole courses worth traveling for, and an ideal first stop off an early flight. Fees are modest; confirm with the club.
Access: public, all levels welcome. Confirm rates with the club.
Parnu Bay Golf Links
The reason to rent a car. Parnu Bay Golf Links sits across the Estonian border on the shore of Parnu Bay, roughly two and a half hours north of Riga up the Via Baltica, and it is the standout course of the entire Baltic coast. The Finnish architect Lassi Pekka Tilander, with lead shaper Mick McShane, opened it in 2015, and the result is true seaside golf: firm turf, sea winds, and holes running along the water in a way nothing in Latvia can offer. Our verdict: the best course within reach of Riga, full stop, and the upgrade that turns a city break into a Baltic golf trip. Pair it with a night in Parnu's old resort quarter rather than driving both ways in a day. Confirm rates with the club.
Access: public; book ahead in high summer. Check tee times.

Plan a Riga golf trip
Tell us roughly when and who is traveling. One concierge books the tee times at Jurmala and Ozo, arranges the Parnu links day or a full Baltic loop through Tallinn and Vilnius, pairs it with the right old town hotel, and prices the trip honestly. We reply within one working day, with no obligation.
Building the trip
Three or four nights is the sweet spot: Jurmala Golf Club and Ozo on consecutive days, Viesturi as the arrival day warm up, and the old town's restaurants and art nouveau streets filling the gaps. Aim for June or July if you want the white nights, when the evening light lingers toward eleven and the courses keep selling tee times long after most of Europe has gone in for dinner; the same logic powers our guide to summer golf in Scandinavia and the north. With Riga airport ten minutes from the first tee at Jurmala, the city also earns its spot among the best golf near major airports. The ambitious should keep driving: Parnu and the Estonian coast to the north, or a ferry hop to the best courses in Finland and the best courses in Sweden, with Poland and Norway rounding out a northern season. Weigh Riga against its rivals in the best city break golf destinations and the best emerging golf destinations, then let plan my trip put the whole thing in one brief.
