The leaders are clear. Sand Valley in the northeast and Modry Las near the German border are the two courses that have put Poland on the international golf map, both opened in 2009 and both regular award winners. Behind them sits a cluster of solid modern resort and championship courses around the major cities. This is a destination for the curious, well travelled golfer who has played the famous names and wants somewhere quiet, affordable and different, with the golf paired against a culture and a price point that few European destinations can match.

Where they sit on the map

Poland's best golf falls into three clusters built around its main cities. The north, around Gdansk on the Baltic coast, is the strongest, with Sand Valley a drive inland, Sierra and Postolowo close to the city and the airport. The northwest near Szczecin holds Modry Las and Binowo Park, both within easy reach of the German border and a natural extension of a trip from Berlin. The centre and south offer Sobienie Krolewskie near Warsaw, Krakow Valley near Krakow and Rosa in Silesia, ideal for golfers building a round or two around a city break. Most visiting golfers pick one region and base around its nearest city.
