Who this trip suits

A Costa Brava golf package suits the player who wants one genuinely world class round at the center of the week and real Catalonia around it. The anchor is Camiral, formerly PGA Catalunya, near Caldes de Malavella in Girona province, where the Stadium Course has topped the Spanish rankings since 1999 and will host the 2031 Ryder Cup. Around it spreads the Emporda plain: medieval stone villages, the coves of the coast, Girona's old town and courses that would headline most other regions of Spain.

It is a different proposition from the high volume golf of the south. Where an all inclusive golf trip in Spain is built on repetition and value, the Costa Brava is built on quality: five venues inside a 50 minute drive, two of the country's best food scenes, and beaches the buggies never reach. It suits couples, small groups, golfers bolting three rounds onto a Barcelona stay, and anyone ticking off the best golf courses in Spain before the Ryder Cup crowds arrive. Weighing this coast against its southern neighbor? Our comparison of the Costa Daurada and the Costa Brava settles it round by round.

The courses to build around

Camiral, Stadium and Tour

Coles and Gallardo, 1999 · 2031 Ryder Cup · Indicative 2026 from around €212

The reason most people come. The Stadium Course, by Neil Coles and Angel Gallardo, opened in 1999 and stretched to 7,333 yards, has long been ranked number one in Spain and hosts the 2031 Ryder Cup. Indicative 2026 third party rates run from around €212 against a €300 public rate in peak spring and autumn. The Tour Course is the gentler second round. Note the 2026 works: the Tour is closed 1 June to 26 July and the Stadium 27 July to 27 September, with both open from October.

Emporda Golf, the Links and Forest courses by Robert von Hagge on the Costa Brava

Emporda Golf

Robert von Hagge, 1990 · Links and Forest · Indicative fees €80 to €115

Thirty six holes by Robert von Hagge on the plain near Pals, opened in 1990 and grown to two full courses when a fourth nine arrived in 2004. The Links rolls through dunes that feel lifted from the North Sea coast, while the Forest threads umbrella pines and water. Indicative fees run from around €80 to €115, and 36 holes here is the best full golf day on the coast outside Camiral.

Golf de Pals

Fred Hawtree, 1966 · Oldest on the coast · Indicative 2026 around €86 to €116

The original. Fred Hawtree laid out the holes through the pines behind the beach at Pals, and the course opened in the summer of 1966 as the first on the Costa Brava. The club's 2026 public rate is €116, with third party rates from around €86.

Peralada and Club de Golf Costa Brava

1993 and 1968 · Supporting rounds · Indicative fees from €69

The supporting pair. Club Golf Peralada, open since 1993 beside the castle town of the same name, is a par 71 repeatedly named the best course on the Costa Brava, with indicative weekday fees from €69. Club de Golf Costa Brava at Santa Cristina d'Aro, its Hamilton Stutt designed 18 opened in 1968, grew to 27 holes in 2011 and sits ten minutes from the grand hotels of S'Agaro.

Best time to book

May, June, September and October are the Costa Brava's prime golf months, warm, settled and with the courses at their best. The wrinkle in 2026 is Camiral's improvement program: the Tour Course is closed from 1 June to 26 July and the Stadium Course from 27 July to 27 September, with both fully open again from October, so a spring trip or an October week protects the headline round. July and August bring heat and the busiest tee sheets; winter is mild, quiet and remarkable value. For spring and autumn, book Stadium times and the better Emporda hotels two to four months ahead, locking the Stadium round first. The city itself is covered in our guide to how to play golf in Girona.

Costa Brava golf package questions

What are the best golf courses on the Costa Brava?

The Stadium Course at Camiral, designed by Neil Coles and Angel Gallardo and open since 1999, is the headline act, long ranked the number one course in Spain and host of the 2031 Ryder Cup. Emporda Golf pairs the Links and Forest courses, both by Robert von Hagge, near Pals. Golf de Pals, a Fred Hawtree design opened in 1966, is the oldest on the Costa Brava, while Club Golf Peralada, open since 1993, and Club de Golf Costa Brava at Santa Cristina d'Aro round out a strong week.

How much does a Costa Brava golf package cost?

Indicative 2026 operator rates start at around 333 euros per person for three nights at the LaVida hotel at Camiral with one green fee, around 456 euros at the five star Hotel Camiral, and around 494 euros for two nights at Hotel Camiral with breakfast and a Stadium Course round with buggy. UK operators list three nights with three rounds at the resort from around 455 pounds per person. Standalone fees run from about 69 euros at Peralada to 300 euros at the Stadium Course in peak weeks. We are a guide, not an operator, so always confirm directly before booking.

When is the best time for a Costa Brava golf trip?

May, June, September and October are the prime windows. Note the 2026 maintenance program at Camiral: the Tour Course is closed from 1 June to 26 July 2026 and the Stadium Course from 27 July to 27 September 2026, with both fully open again from October. July and August bring heat and beach crowds, while winter golf here is mild and quiet. For spring or autumn trips, book Stadium Course tee times and the better hotels two to four months ahead.

Where should you stay on a Costa Brava golf trip?

Three bases cover most trips. Camiral offers the five star Hotel Camiral and the contemporary LaVida hotel beside the Stadium Course, the simplest stay and play option on this coast. Mas de Torrent, a Relais and Chateaux conversion of a 1751 farmhouse, sits less than ten minutes from Golf de Pals and close to Emporda. On the shore, Hostal de La Gavina in S'Agaro, open since 1932, is the grande dame of the coast, ten minutes from Club de Golf Costa Brava.
