New Golf Courses Opening in Mexico, 2026

Mexico, and Los Cabos in particular, is the busiest new course market in the Americas right now. Ernie Els, Tiger Woods's TGR Design, Tom Fazio and Jack Nicklaus all have courses opening or finishing in and around 2026, turning the Baja peninsula into a genuine multi trip destination.

Los Cabos at full tilt

While much of the golf world worries about supply, Los Cabos keeps adding courses by some of the most famous names in design. The southern tip of Baja California Sur already has roughly 18 courses in play, and a run of high profile openings clustered around 2026 will push that number well into the twenties over the next few seasons.

Below we round up the projects that matter for a 2026 trip: the courses opening their doors, the ones in final grow in, and the marquee designs breaking through. Opening dates on ambitious resort courses move often, so treat any date as a target and confirm before you plan a trip around it.

The headliners

Oleada Golf Links, Ernie Els in Cabo

The most talked about opening is Oleada Golf Links, Ernie Els's design debut in Mexico, set among the Diamante and Solmar courses on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas. Reports point to a soft opening through 2026 ahead of a full grand opening targeted for December, which would make it the headline new course to add to a Baja trip late in the year.

The Legacy at Diamante, TGR Design

Diamante adds another Tiger Woods routing with The Legacy, built by his TGR Design firm to sit alongside the existing Dunes and El Cardonal courses. With grass sprigging completed, the course is targeted to open by the end of 2026 and deepens Diamante's claim to be one of the strongest single resort golf collections anywhere.

Querencia and Quivira add a second course each

The other two big projects expand two of the area's best known resorts. Campo Alto at Querencia is a Tom Fazio design targeted to open by the end of 2026, while at Quivira a second Jack Nicklaus course, the Old Lighthouse Golf and Ocean Club, is slated for late 2026 into early 2027. Together they confirm that Los Cabos is doubling down rather than slowing.

Our take

For the traveling golfer, the lesson of 2026 is that Los Cabos has become a place you return to rather than tick off once. With Els, Woods, Fazio and Nicklaus all opening within a couple of seasons, you can build several distinct trips around new courses while leaning on the proven names nearby.

Our advice is to treat the new openings as the spine of a wider Baja itinerary rather than the whole of it. Pair a fresh opening with the established Dunes at Diamante, the Ocean course at Cabo del Sol and the cliffside golf at Quivira, and keep your dates flexible until a grand opening is confirmed. Our Mexico destination hub and the best courses in Mexico list are the places to anchor the plan.
