The Best Golf Resorts in Murcia

Murcia is the rare destination where the resort is the whole trip: a ring of Nicklaus Design courses around the Mar Menor lagoon, the three course La Manga Club above Cartagena, around 320 days of sunshine a year, and hotel brands that have been flipping fast, with Sheraton, Caleia and InterContinental nameplates all replaced since the last guidebooks were printed. We checked who actually runs each property in June 2026, then ranked the six bases worth building a stay and play trip around.

How we chose

This list was researched and written by the GolfForKings editorial desk, and every operator, designer, opening year and fee on it was checked against resort, operator and ranking sources in June 2026. That matters more in Murcia than almost anywhere in Spain, because the hotels here change brands constantly: the Sheraton at Hacienda del Alamo and the Caleia at Mar Menor both now trade under Ona Hotels, and La Manga's grande dame returned to Hyatt as a Grand Hyatt in May 2023. We ranked on the golf first, then the quality and honesty of the lodging, then value. Where a resort is really an apartment village rather than a hotel, we say so plainly.

This page ranks where to base yourself. If you want the full trip math, the course by course fee detail, a sample five night routing and 2026 package ranges, our Murcia golf packages guide is the companion piece, and the best golf courses in Murcia ranks the layouts themselves. Fees and package rates below carry their season and year and are indicative only, so always confirm directly before booking.

The best in Murcia, ranked

1

Grand Hyatt La Manga Club Golf & Spa

Three courses · South by Robert Dean Putman, 1971 · Atamaria, near Cartagena · 192 rooms · public resort

The undisputed flagship, and the only Murcia resort with three full championship courses on property. The South Course, laid out by Robert Dean Putman in 1971 and later renovated with Arnold Palmer's design firm, hosted the Spanish Open from 1973 to 1977 and remains the marquee round in the region; Putman's friendlier North and the Dave Thomas West of 1996, climbing through pine forest, complete the set. The 192 room hotel began life as a Hyatt Regency in 1993, ran independently as the Hotel Principe Felipe from 2008, and returned to Hyatt in May 2023 as the first Grand Hyatt in mainland Spain. Indicative 2026 South Course fees ran around 119 euros in the spring window, and operator packages of three nights bed and breakfast with two rounds listed from around 445 pounds per person for March 2026; always confirm directly before booking.

Access: public; hotel guests get preferred times and golf package rates. Check stay and play rates.

2

Ona Hacienda del Alamo Golf & Resort

Course by Dave Thomas, opened 2005 · around 6,700 meters · Fuente Alamo · 154 rooms · formerly Sheraton

The value week. Dave Thomas opened this giant in 2005 at around 6,700 meters off the tips, one of the longest courses in Spain, though wide fairways and big greens keep it honest from the forward boxes. The 154 room hotel opened under the Sheraton flag and now trades as Ona Hacienda del Alamo Golf and Resort under Ona Hotels, with spa, pools and apartment options alongside, and the course is literally outside the door. This is the base the operators price hardest: a seven night bed and breakfast package with four rounds, including the home course twice, listed from around 849 pounds per person for early 2026. Indicative only; always confirm directly before booking. Our verdict: the most golf per pound on the Costa Calida.

Access: public; package guests book the home course first. Check stay and play rates.

3

Ona Mar Menor Golf & Spa

Course by Dave Thomas, 2005, extended by Nicklaus Design, 2009 · par 72, 6,153 meters · Torre Pacheco · 64 rooms

The boutique pick. The hotel at Mar Menor Golf Resort has worn more nameplates than anywhere in the region, from InterContinental to Caleia to its current life as the 64 room, five star Ona Mar Menor Golf and Spa, but the small scale is the point: whirlpool tubs, a serious spa, and golf course views from nearly every balcony. The course tells a two architect story, a Dave Thomas front nine from 2005 and a Nicklaus Design back nine added in 2009, running to a par 72 of 6,153 meters, and the resort village around it is the most complete on the lagoon, with restaurants and a tennis academy. Green fees sit on the GNK cluster tee sheet; confirm current rates with the resort. Our verdict: the best hotel for couples on this list.

Access: public via GNK Golf; guests get resort rates. Check stay and play rates.

4

DoubleTree by Hilton La Torre Golf & Spa Resort

Course by Nicklaus Design, opened 2006 · par 68 · Roldan, Torre Pacheco · public resort

The buddies trip machine. La Torre's Nicklaus Design course, opened in 2006, is a par 68 with four tee boxes, water everywhere and no brutal walks, which makes it the confidence builder of the Nicklaus ring and the easiest place in Murcia to play 36. The DoubleTree by Hilton on site brings chain reliability, a spa and Hilton points to a resort village that sits 20 minutes from Murcia International at Corvera, and the central location puts El Valle, Mar Menor and Hacienda Riquelme all within half an hour. Indicative 2026 fees across the GNK cluster ran roughly 52 to 81 euros depending on course and season; always confirm directly before booking. Our verdict: the smartest hub for a multi course GNK week.

Access: public via GNK Golf. Check tee times.

5

Roda Golf & Beach Resort

Course by Dave Thomas with Gus Grantham, opened 2006 · par 72 · San Javier, near the Mar Menor · apartments plus partner hotel

The beach option. Roda is the only base here that genuinely pairs golf with sand, sitting minutes from the Mar Menor shore at San Javier. The course, built by Dave Thomas with Gus Grantham and opened by Sam Torrance in 2006, is a tidy par 72 with quality Bermuda fairways. Be clear about the lodging: the resort itself is apartments, townhouses and villas rather than a hotel, and the usual hotel base for Roda golf packages is the 108 room 525 Hotel in Los Alcazares, about ten minutes away on the lagoon strip with its bars and restaurants. Pricing is demand based and the tee sheet is one of the busiest in the region, so book the times first and confirm rates with the resort. Our verdict: best for groups who want nightlife and a swim with their golf.

Access: public; apartments on resort, hotel packages via the 525 Hotel. Check stay and play rates.

6

Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort

Course by Nicklaus Design, resort opened 2007 · par 72, 6,356 meters · Sucina · apartment resort, no hotel

The honest budget play. Hacienda Riquelme's Nicklaus Design course is a real test, a par 72 of 6,356 meters grassed entirely in Paspalum and regularly the best conditioned of the GNK cluster, and the colonial styled resort around it holds 19 pools, tennis and padel courts and round the clock security. The honesty part: there is no hotel here at all. The resort, opened in 2007, is 1,864 privately owned apartments in 78 blocks, so you book through rental platforms or direct from owners, you carry your own bags to a third floor walk up, and there is no concierge to fix a missed tee time. Do that with open eyes and it is the cheapest quality golf address in Murcia; confirm apartment terms and current fees with the resort and GNK before booking. Our verdict: for self sufficient groups only, but the savings are real.

Access: public via GNK Golf; lodging is self catering apartments. Check apartment availability.

Plan a Murcia golf trip

Tell us roughly when and who is traveling. One concierge matches the base to the group, holds the La Manga South times before demand pricing climbs, builds the GNK multi course passes, and prices the trip honestly. We reply within one working day, with no obligation.

Building the trip

The geography makes this easy: nothing on the list sits more than about 45 minutes from anything else, and Murcia International at Corvera serves nearly all of it inside 40 minutes. Pick one base and day trip the rest, or split the week, three nights at the Grand Hyatt for the La Manga courses and four at Hacienda del Alamo or La Torre for the Nicklaus ring. Spring and autumn are prime and need booking three to four months out; January and February are the bargain months. The full routing, fee table and 2026 package ranges live in our Murcia golf packages guide, and the layouts themselves are ranked in the best golf courses in Murcia. To see how these bases stack up nationally, start with the best stay and play golf resorts in Spain, detour via the hidden gem golf courses in Spain, or widen the map with our guide to golf in Spain and a marquee add on at Las Colinas over the Costa Blanca border. Then let plan my trip put the whole thing in one brief.
