The Best Golf Courses in Bangkok and Pattaya

The strip of Thailand between the capital and the coast holds some of Asia's finest golf: a floating island green, the home of the LPGA in Thailand and the course where a 21 year old Tiger Woods won by ten. Here are the seven we rate most highly, ranked, with our verdict on each and how to play it.

How we chose them

Bangkok and Pattaya sit barely an hour and a half apart down the eastern seaboard, and the corridor between them is one of the great golf concentrations in Asia. Pattaya is the volume destination, led by the sprawling Siam Country Club complex with its multiple championship courses, while the country club belt around Bangkok holds the more exclusive layouts. Halfway between the two, in Chonburi, sits the course many rate the best in the country. We weighed design quality, conditioning, tournament pedigree, the strength of the wider facility and how easily a visiting golfer can play, then ranked accordingly. Almost everything here welcomes visitors, which is a large part of Thailand's appeal.

Every fact here, from designers and opening years to host events and yardages, was checked at the time of writing in June 2026 by the GolfForKings editorial desk. Green fees in Thailand vary widely by course, day and season, and most golfers play with a caddie whose fee and tip sit on top, so treat any figure as a guide and always confirm directly before booking. The verdicts are ours. If you want these built into a costed Bangkok and Pattaya itinerary, with transfers and caddies handled, that is exactly what our concierge does.

The 7 best golf courses in Bangkok and Pattaya

01

Amata Spring Country Club

Schmidt-Curley Design, 2005 · Chonburi · par 72

Widely rated the best course in Thailand, a Schmidt-Curley design opened in 2005 in Chonburi, roughly halfway between Bangkok and Pattaya, stretching past 7,400 yards from the tips. The course is best known for its dramatic island green seventeenth, reached by boat, but the whole layout is immaculate, muscular championship golf, and it hosted the inaugural Honda LPGA Thailand in 2006 along with other significant events. An exclusive members club that accepts visitors by arrangement, it is the single course to build a trip around and the most polished test in the region.

02

Siam Country Club, Old Course

Opened 1969 · Pattaya · home of the Honda LPGA

The grande dame of Pattaya golf and the home of the Honda LPGA Thailand, which it has hosted since 2007, with Lexi Thompson among its many champions. Opened in 1969 as the area's first course and since rebuilt to a modern championship standard, the Old Course rolls through mature, tree lined terrain with the conditioning and presentation the world's best women expect each February. Watching where the tour plays, then playing it yourself, is one of the great Pattaya golf experiences, and the wider Siam complex makes it a one stop base.

03

Siam Country Club, Plantation Course

Schmidt-Curley Design, 2008 · Pattaya · 27 holes

The bold modern sibling at Siam Country Club, a 27 hole Schmidt-Curley design opened in 2008 across the site of a former tapioca and sugar cane plantation, whose history names its three nines. Big, sculpted bunkering, generous fairways and water in play give it a dramatic, contemporary feel that contrasts with the classical Old Course next door, and the conditioning matches its tournament neighbor. Playing the Old and the Plantation back to back is the natural heart of a Siam Country Club stay.

04

Thai Country Club

Denis Griffiths, 1996 · near Bangkok · Tiger's first win in Asia

The most prestigious course near the capital, a Denis Griffiths design opened in December 1996 on the eastern fringe of Bangkok, and forever linked to Tiger Woods, who won the 1997 Asian Honda Classic here by ten strokes as a 21 year old, driving the green on the 406 yard tenth. Immaculately conditioned, exclusive and a regular tournament host, it offers a polished, big league round close to the city. Visitor access runs through select operators and hotels, and the locker that bears Tiger's name is a pilgrimage in itself.

05

Laem Chabang International Country Club

Jack Nicklaus · near Pattaya · 27 holes

The standout scenic round near Pattaya, a 27 hole Jack Nicklaus design spread across 700 acres of mixed mountain, lake and valley terrain about half an hour from the resort. The three nines, Mountain, Lake and Valley, each use the dramatic natural ground differently, with exposed rock formations, streams and well placed bunkering making it both beautiful and a genuine test. Consistently nominated among the best in Thailand, it is the most varied and visually striking layout on the Pattaya side and a regular fixture on any serious itinerary.

06

Siam Country Club, Waterside Course

Pattaya · modern resort layout

The most player friendly of the Siam Country Club courses, a modern, resort style layout with open fairways, gentle contours and the strategically placed water hazards that give it its name. It does not punish the higher handicap golfer the way the championship courses can, which makes it the ideal opening or closing round of a Pattaya stay and a good choice for mixed ability groups. Part of the same complex as the Old and Plantation courses, it completes one of the deepest single site golf offerings in Asia.

07

Alpine Golf Club, Bangkok

Bangkok country club belt · lush parkland

One of the best known courses in the Bangkok country club belt, a lush, mature parkland so densely planted with palms and tropical trees that it is often likened to a botanical garden. The golf is generous off the tee but defended by water and well kept greens, and the immaculate, green on green conditioning is the draw. A long standing tournament venue with a strong reputation among Thai golfers, it makes a fine, accessible round on the Bangkok side to balance a Pattaya heavy trip.

Where they are, and indicative costs

The courses string out along the eastern seaboard. The Bangkok side holds Thai Country Club and Alpine in the country club belt around the city. Pattaya, about ninety minutes southeast, holds the Siam Country Club complex and Laem Chabang just to its north. Amata Spring sits in Chonburi roughly midway between the two. Most golfers base in Pattaya for the volume of courses or split a trip between a city stay and the coast, with Bangkok's two airports and good roads making transfers straightforward, almost always with a private car and driver.

Bangkok and Pattaya golf questions

What is the best golf course near Bangkok and Pattaya?

Amata Spring Country Club in Chonburi, midway between the two cities, is widely rated the best course in Thailand and is our pick, famous for its boat accessed island green seventeenth. In Pattaya, the Siam Country Club Old Course, home of the Honda LPGA Thailand, leads the way, while Thai Country Club is the most prestigious course near Bangkok. Reasonable people reorder the top three.

When is the best time to play golf in Bangkok and Pattaya?

The cool, dry season from November to February is the prime time, with comfortable temperatures and little rain, which is also when the Honda LPGA Thailand is staged. March to May is hot, and the wet season runs roughly June to October with afternoon downpours, so early tee times are wise year round. Always confirm conditions and tee time availability before you travel.

Do you need a caddie to play golf in Thailand?

At most Thai courses, including those around Bangkok and Pattaya, a caddie is effectively compulsory and is part of the experience, with the caddie fee and a customary tip added on top of the green fee. Carts are widely available and sometimes required. It is one reason Thai golf feels such good value despite the service levels. Always confirm the full cost directly before booking.
