Couples Golf Trips to Morocco

Palm-lined fairways in the shadow of the Atlas Mountains, a riad in the medina and a hammam to end the day. Morocco is where a golf trip becomes a full holiday for two, whether both of you play or only one of you does.

Why Morocco works so well for two

A couples golf trip to Morocco succeeds because the destination gives both people an agenda. The golfer gets a rotation of genuinely world-class courses, warm winter sun and the Atlas Mountains as a backdrop to every round. The non-golfer gets Marrakech, one of the most sensory and rewarding cities anywhere, with the souks, the Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the Majorelle Garden, traditional hammams and day trips into the mountains all within easy reach of the same hotel base. When the round is done, the two schedules reunite over a tagine and mint tea, and the rhythm of a golf holiday and a cultural break become one trip.

Morocco also sits under four hours from most of Europe, the time difference is small and the currency is favourable, which keeps the cost of a quality experience well below comparable Caribbean or South-East Asian alternatives. Our full Morocco golf guide and the Marrakech area hub cover the broader landscape. For couples planning further afield or a coastal add-on, see the Agadir golf guide as well.

Who this trip suits

This itinerary is built for two people where at least one plays golf and both want a holiday that feels like more than a golf trip. It works equally well for two golfers who want spa and culture woven between rounds, or for one dedicated golfer whose partner would rather spend a morning in the medina than on the first tee. The structure below gives the golfer two or three rounds across five to seven nights and fills the remaining time with things worth doing together. For a dedicated golf-only holiday in Morocco, see Morocco golf holidays and our all-inclusive golf Morocco options.

A sample five-night couples itinerary

This structure covers five nights and balances two or three rounds of golf with genuine shared time in and around Marrakech. A seven-night version simply adds two more days from the optional extras listed after each day.

Day 1 · Arrive Marrakech, settle into the riad

Fly into Marrakech Menara Airport and transfer to your riad in or near the medina. Late-afternoon check-in, a walk to the Jemaa el-Fnaa as the square fills with food stalls and musicians, and dinner on a rooftop terrace. No tee time tonight. The pace starts slow on purpose.

Day 2 · Morning at Amelkis, afternoon hammam

Amelkis is the natural opening round for most couples visiting Marrakech. The Cabell Robinson design from 1995 winds through olive groves and palm alleys with the snow-capped Atlas as a backdrop, and it offers 27 holes to choose combinations from. The golfer tees off at 7:30 or 8:00 to be done by early afternoon. The non-golfer takes the morning for a guided medina walk or a session at one of the resort spas, then both meet at a traditional hammam in the late afternoon for a scrub and steam that neither will forget. Dinner in the medina.

Day 3 · Shared Atlas day trip

No golf today. Take a private car or a small group day trip into the Ourika Valley or up to the Toubkal foothills. Berber villages, argan oil cooperatives and a lunch of mountain trout next to a river. This is the day the non-golfer often says is the best of the trip, and the golfer usually agrees. Back in Marrakech by late afternoon for a rest before dinner.

Day 4 · Royal Golf Marrakech, then the souks

Royal Golf Marrakech opened in 1923, making it the oldest golf club in Morocco, and a round here carries the kind of history you feel in the fairways. Winston Churchill played here. The 27-hole layout is gentler than Amelkis, which makes it a pleasant contrast, and a compulsory forecaddie accompanies every group. Tee off in the morning, then spend the afternoon together in the souks. The spice market, the leather tanneries viewed from a terrace above and the jewellery quarter reward a slow couple of hours. Cocktails at a rooftop bar, dinner somewhere with live Gnawa music.

Day 5 · Spa morning, Al Maaden in the afternoon

Al Maaden, designed by Kyle Phillips and opened in 2010, is modern, well conditioned and suits a late-morning or afternoon start, which frees the morning for a long spa session together. The likes of Fairmont Royal Palm, Royal Mansour and La Mamounia are widely known for standout spa facilities, hammam suites and couple treatments. Al Maaden's naturally undulating terrain and clear Atlas sightlines make it the most scenic of the modern courses, and the round typically finishes in around four hours. Dinner that evening at one of the resort properties, then a last night in the medina.

Day 6 · Majorelle Garden and Yves Saint Laurent Museum

A shared cultural morning at Jardin Majorelle and the adjacent YSL Museum, one of the most photographed gardens in Africa, then a relaxed final lunch and a transfer to the airport. If the trip extends to seven nights, use this day for an optional third or fourth round at Assoufid or PalmGolf Palmeraie, or add a night at a boutique riad in the medina itself. See all-inclusive Morocco golf packages if you want a single resort to contain everything.

Frequently asked

Which golf courses should a couples trip to Morocco include?

Amelkis, designed by Cabell Robinson and opened in 1995, is the headline course for most couples, with palm-lined fairways set against the Atlas Mountains and technically engaging bunkering. Al Maaden, a Kyle Phillips design from 2010, offers undulating terrain and a modern resort feel. Royal Golf Marrakech, opened in 1923 and spread across 27 holes, is the oldest club in Morocco and a round there carries genuine history. Assoufid, designed by Niall Cameron, suits golfers who want a quieter, more natural setting with minimal water use and native planting. Two or three rounds across a five to seven night trip strikes the right balance for a couple sharing a holiday.

What does the non-golfer do during a Morocco couples trip?

Marrakech is one of the richest cities in the world for a non-golfer. The Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the souks and the Majorelle Garden fill a full day with ease. A traditional hammam, or Moroccan bathhouse, is a highlight that many couples do together in the late afternoon after a round. Day trips to the Atlas Mountains or the villages of the Ourika Valley take around two hours and work well on a non-golf day. Most resort spas attached to Marrakech golf properties offer treatments throughout the day, so the trip assembles naturally around a rhythm of one golf day, one shared day.

How much do Morocco golf green fees cost in 2026?

Indicative 2026 green fees across the main Marrakech courses run from roughly 60 to 120 euros per round for 18 holes depending on the course and the season. The peak season from October to April commands higher rates, while the summer months bring lower prices and greater heat. Rates change with the season and the rate plan you book, so always confirm directly before booking. Royal Golf Marrakech lists 18-hole fees around 1,200 MAD on their official site, while Assoufid lists 18-hole fees at 1,100 MAD until September 2026.

When is the best time for a couples golf trip to Morocco?

October through April is the prime window, with reliably warm days, cooler evenings perfect for medina dining and the courses in their best condition. November to February adds the possibility of snow on the distant Atlas peaks, which makes the backdrop to a round at Amelkis or Al Maaden particularly dramatic. March and April are ideal for couples who want warm weather without summer heat, while May to September brings intense midday heat and lower green fees that suit early morning rounds followed by long afternoons at the pool or spa.
