Budget the week around one number: Monte Rei. The Jack Nicklaus Signature North course at Vila Nova de Cacela lists between 178 and 220 euro for the season running to 31 October 2026, shared buggy and practice hour included, which makes it the priciest tee time in Portugal and still one of the easiest to justify, because it is routinely ranked the country's best course. The rest of the east is a different market. There is no debate about where the money goes in the east. Monte Rei's North course, the only Jack Nicklaus Signature design in Portugal, opened in 2007 in the foothills behind Vila Nova de Cacela and has sat at or near the top of the national rankings ever since. The Ria estate and Castro Marim
Ten minutes from Monte Rei, Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima are the smart money: two Rocky Roquemore eighteens on one estate between the sea and the hills, Ria with its closing stretch against the Ria Formosa lagoon and its salt flats, Cima the longer, leafier inland test. Both list from around 100 euro, and Ria's published afternoon rate from about 80 euro from 14:30 in several months is the best trick in the east. Castro Marim, terraced above the Guadiana river where Portugal meets Spain, starts near 104 euro and adds border country views from its upper holes.
Benamor and the value tier
Benamor, on the hills behind Tavira, publishes the clearest rate card in the region: 61 euro in low season, 79 in mid season and 86 in its winter and summer promotion windows for 2026. It is a proper par 71 with sea glimpses, not a filler round. Colina Verde's nine at Moncarapacho costs less again and makes a fine first afternoon leg stretcher. This tier is why the east works for groups: the trophy round is dear, but the week is not.

The east runs the same calendar as the rest of the Algarve, with spring and autumn the premium windows and the bonus that this is the driest, sunniest corner of the coast in winter.
