Gloria New Course fairways and lakes among pine at the Gloria Golf Resort in Belek, Turkey
Course profile · Belek, Antalya

Gloria New Course

The perfect complement to the famous Old, the Gloria New Course gives the resort a second championship eighteen with room to swing freely. Michel Gayon opened it in 2005 with wider fairways, four big lakes and a Sawgrass style island green at the seventeenth. A touch more forgiving off the tee yet no less enjoyable, it completes one of the best golf resorts on the Turkish Riviera.

The verdict

When the Gloria Old Course proved that Belek could deliver golf to match its winter sun, the resort added a second championship eighteen to match the demand. The New Course opened in 2005, again to a design by the French architect Michel Gayon, and plays as a par 72 of around 6,350 yards. Where the Old is tight and shaded, the New is a little more open off the tee, which makes it the friendlier of the pair without ever feeling soft.

Gayon laid the New Course out across three rolling loops, weaving four large lakes and 67 bunkers through pine and a more open landscape. The fairways are wider, so you can open your shoulders, but the water is everywhere and the scoring lives in staying dry. The headline is the seventeenth, an island green par 3 that nods directly to the Stadium Course at Sawgrass, a genuine risk and reward moment near the close. Together with the Old, it anchors the Gloria resort within the densest golf cluster in the eastern Mediterranean.

The holes worth the trip

The New Course opens with what many reckon is the tightest drive on the property, a reminder that wider does not mean easier. From there the fairways broaden and the round invites a freer swing, but Gayon's four lakes press in on the strong holes and the 67 bunkers are placed exactly where the aggressive line tempts you. Find the short grass and the correct side of it and the large greens are receptive; miss it and the water or sand exacts a full shot.

The rolling middle stretch moves between pine and more open ground, with fantastic greens that are quick and a little hard to read, so distance control and a steady nerve matter more than power. The ninth and eighteenth finish each nine alongside a big lake as you head back to the clubhouse, a handsome and slightly nervy way to close a half.

The signature is the seventeenth, an island green par 3 that openly recalls the Stadium Course at Sawgrass and turns the closing stretch into a genuine test of nerve. It is the kind of hole that decides matches and lingers in the memory. Played as part of a Belek trip, with the resort hotels on the doorstep and warm golf available deep into winter, the New Course offers a slightly more relaxed yet still strategic round that pairs perfectly with the Old.

Where to stay nearby

Belek is built for the golf trip, a strip of large resort hotels set among the pines with three or more courses often within a short shuttle ride. The Gloria resort hotels sit beside the New and Old courses, so many visitors play, eat and sleep within the same grounds, with everything included and the first tee a few minutes away.

For a wider Belek itinerary, the cluster includes Carya, the Montgomerie Maxx Royal and the National among many others, all reachable in minutes, which makes it possible to play a different championship course every day without changing hotel. Antalya airport is about forty minutes away and well connected across Europe, making Belek one of the easiest warm weather golf trips to arrange.
