The Best Golf Resorts in Sao Paulo

An honest word first: Sao Paulo is club golf country, and almost none of its best courses sits beside a hotel you can simply book. But genuine stay and play does exist within reach of the city, anchored by the Fasano run estate at Fazenda Boa Vista with its two championship courses, a Club Med with 18 holes on a lake east of town, and, for the second leg, resort golf on the Costa Verde at Angra dos Reis. Here are the six arrangements that actually work, ranked, with a straight answer on access to each.

How we chose

This list was researched and written by the GolfForKings editorial desk, and every designer, opening year and yardage on it was checked against club, resort and federation sources in June 2026. The word resort needs defining here. Our ranking of the best golf courses in Sao Paulo covers the city's great private clubs, places like Sao Paulo Golf Club and Sao Fernando, where you sleep in a city hotel and play through an introduction. This page answers the other question: where around Sao Paulo can a traveling golfer actually stay on or beside the course? We ranked on course quality first, then on whether the lodging is real and bookable, then on how cleanly each fits a Sao Paulo based week.

One warning on money. Brazilian green fees and package rates move with the real and most of these properties publish no standing visitor tariff, so we will not invent numbers; where nothing is published we say so and tell you to confirm with the club, and any rate you are quoted should be treated as indicative for its season and year, so always confirm directly before booking. Golf runs year round in Sao Paulo state, with the drier window from April to September the most reliable and summer bringing afternoon storms, the same calendar we set out in our guide to playing golf in Sao Paulo.

The best stay and play around Sao Paulo, ranked

1

Fazenda Boa Vista and Hotel Fasano Boa Vista

Arnold Palmer and Randall Thompson courses · Porto Feliz, about 100 km west via the Castello Branco · hotel guests play both courses

The one true luxury golf resort experience in Sao Paulo state. Fazenda Boa Vista is a vast countryside estate at Porto Feliz where the Hotel Fasano Boa Vista, designed by the architect Isay Weinfeld, keeps rooms and private bungalows beside two full championship courses: an Arnold Palmer signature layout running along the Rio Sorocaba and a second 18 by Randall Thompson near the hotel itself. Crucially for the visitor, hotel guests can arrange green fees on both, which makes this the only place on this list where world class golf and world class lodging come as one booking. The Palmer course also appears in our ranking of the best golf courses in Brazil. Our verdict: book two nights minimum and play both. Rates are seasonal and unpublished; always confirm directly before booking.

Access: golf reserved for hotel guests, residents and their invitees. Check stay and play rates.

2

Club Med Lake Paradise

Fumio Horii, opened 2001 · 18 holes, par 72, 6,898 yards · Mogi das Cruzes, about 45 km from Guarulhos airport · all inclusive resort

The easy button. The Paradise golf course at Mogi das Cruzes, east of the city, was drawn by Fumio Horii and opened in 2001: 18 holes of par 72 stretching 6,898 yards around a large lake, with an island green par 3 at the second that everyone photographs. The hotel beside it has been managed by Club Med since 2016 and now trades as Club Med Lake Paradise, an all inclusive village of the kind we cover in our list of the best all inclusive golf resorts, which means food, drink and the family's entertainment are solved while you play. Visiting golfers are received most days, with Tuesday the usual closed day, and a handicap card is expected. Our verdict: the most frictionless golf stay in greater Sao Paulo. Packages are seasonal; always confirm directly before booking.

Access: resort guests and visiting golfers with a handicap card; confirm the closed day. Check tee times.

3

Frade Golf Resort

Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas · 18 holes, par 72, 6,420 yards, rebuilt 2007 · Angra dos Reis, Costa Verde · Hotel do Frade and Fasano on site

The coastal pairing. Frade is the historic resort course of the Costa Verde, 18 holes of par 72 at 6,420 yards credited to the British pairing of Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas, laid between rainforest mountains and the sea near Angra dos Reis and substantially rebuilt in 2007, when new greens went in under the Brazilian professional Rafael Navarro. Lodging is genuinely on site: the long standing Hotel do Frade sits with the course, and in 2017 the resort added the Hotel Fasano Angra dos Reis, 60 sea view apartments at the polished end of the market. The catch is geography, since Angra lies in Rio de Janeiro state, around three hours from Rio and a long day's drive from Sao Paulo, so treat it as the second leg of the trip rather than a day out. Our verdict: the only beach resort golf in this part of Brazil, and worth the transfer. Fees are unpublished; always confirm directly before booking.

Access: open to resort guests and visitors. Check stay and play rates.

4

Fazenda da Grama Country and Golf Club

Brian Costello, 2006 · par 71, 7,147 yards · Itupeva, about an hour northwest · 12 suite pousada on the estate

The best course on this page, with the most conditional bed. Brian Costello of the JMP Golf Design Group built Fazenda da Grama in 2006 across rolling farm country at Itupeva, and at 7,147 yards, par 71, it ranks among the strongest modern courses in the country, which is why it also sits high on our list of the best golf courses in Sao Paulo. The estate keeps a pousada of 12 suites decorated by Sig Bergamin near the clubs, alongside an equestrian center, lake and beach club, so sleeping beside the fairways is physically possible. The honesty clause: this is a private residential community, the golf belongs to its members, and both the pousada and the tee sheet are normally reached through a resident, a member or an operator with standing. Our verdict: magnificent if your introduction holds; arrange everything in writing before you fly, and confirm terms directly with the club.

Access: private community; through a member or operator. Ask our concierge.

5

Lago Azul Golf Club

Founded 1978 · 18 holes, par 72, 6,875 yards · Aracoiaba da Serra, Raposo Tavares km 113 · bookable golf, lodging nearby

The bookable round in the interior. Founded in 1978 inside a country condominium at Aracoiaba da Serra, beyond Sorocaba on the Raposo Tavares highway, Lago Azul runs 18 mature, heavily treed holes of par 72 at 6,875 yards around its namesake lake, and it carries a reputation as one of the prettiest inland courses in Brazil. Unlike most of the state's golf it receives visiting players, with caddies, carts and a proper clubhouse with pool and restaurant. What we could not verify is on site lodging for traveling golfers, so plan to sleep in Sorocaba or one of the fazenda hotels in the surrounding hills and treat this as the overnight golf stop between the city and the west of the state. Our verdict: the easiest quality tee time on this list. Fees are not reliably published; confirm rates and availability directly with the club before booking.

Access: visitors received; call ahead. Check tee times.

6

Terras de Sao Jose Golfe Clube

Founded 1977 · par 72, 6,530 yards · Itu, about an hour west · private community, lodging arranged nearby

The weekend country classic. Founded in 1977 inside the pioneering country condominium at Itu, Terras de Sao Jose is the water course of the interior, with seven committed carries, an island green at the renovated fourteenth and a finish threaded between two ponds, and Golf Digest has twice voted it among the ten best courses in Brazil. There is no hotel on the property, but the trick that earns it a place on a resorts page is the town next door: Itu and its surroundings hold some of the state's best fazenda hotels, and a well briefed operator can pair a room there with guest access to the club through a member introduction. Our verdict: the most fun golf day in the interior when the arrangement comes together; nothing here is walk up, so confirm access and any quoted rate directly before booking.

Access: private community; through a member or operator. Ask our concierge.

Designers, opening years, yardages and lodging arrangements verified June 2026 by the GolfForKings editorial desk from club, resort, federation and course directory sources. Most properties here publish no standing visitor rate and prices in Brazil move with the real, so every fee is indicative for its season and year at best; always confirm access and rates directly with each club or resort before booking. Where a detail could not be verified, we say so plainly.

Plan a Sao Paulo golf trip

Tell us roughly when and who is traveling. One concierge books Boa Vista and the Club Med, works the introductions at the private estates, weighs the Costa Verde leg honestly, and pairs it all with the city's hotels and restaurants. We reply within one working day, with no obligation.

Building the trip

The shape that works: two or three nights at Fazenda Boa Vista for the Palmer and Thompson courses, a night at the Club Med or at Lago Azul's end of the state if the group is mixed, then either back to the city for the private clubs in our ranking of the best golf courses in Sao Paulo or the long, beautiful run down the coast to Frade for the Costa Verde finale. The national context lives in our list of the best golf courses in Brazil and the Brazil destination guide, and our Sao Paulo golf guide covers caddies, dress and the practical city. If South America is the larger plan, pair this with the best golf courses in Buenos Aires and the best courses in Argentina, look south through the best courses in Chile, or start from the Argentina and Chile guides.
