Why golf here

Private golf beneath the mountains

Chile is not a golf destination in the package sense. Its best courses are private member clubs around Santiago, and you reach them through an introduction or a trip arranged on your behalf rather than an online tee sheet. What you get in return is excellent, uncrowded golf in spectacular settings, with the Andes rising white behind the fairways and barely another visitor in sight.

The leading courses cluster to the north of the capital around Chicureo and in the eastern suburbs beneath the mountains, so a base in Santiago covers the golf and the city at once. The real magic is what surrounds it: the Maipo and Casablanca wine valleys, the Pacific at Valparaiso, and the Andes for skiing or hiking by season. Come for one of the great South American holidays and let the golf elevate it.

The courses that matter

The Chilean courses to build around

A short, high quality list around Santiago, led by a modern championship course in Chicureo and the country's most historic club. All are private, and all reward the effort of arranging access.

01

Hacienda Chicureo

Chicureo, Santiago · Mike Asmundson · par 72, 7,323 yds

The top ranked course in Chile, a modern Mike Asmundson design north of Santiago with wide fairways, large greens and water in play, set in an exclusive residential estate beneath the Andes. The clear centrepiece of any Chilean golf trip.

02

Prince of Wales Country Club

La Reina, Santiago · founded 1925 · par 72

The country's most historic club, founded by the British community in 1925, a short, tight parkland in the eastern suburbs that has hosted national events and the Korn Ferry Tour's Chile Classic. Tradition, mature trees and the mountains overhead.

03

Las Brisas de Chicureo

Chicureo, Santiago · 36 holes

The only thirty six hole facility in Chile, a large club some thirty kilometres north of Santiago with wide fairways, water hazards and superb mountain views. A fine pairing with Hacienda Chicureo a short drive away.

When to go and how to play

Access, the season and costs

Chile plays from October to April, the southern hemisphere spring to autumn, with the shoulders of that window, October to December and March to April, the most pleasant in Santiago. Because the leading clubs are private, the practical question is access rather than a posted green fee: visitor rounds are arranged through a member or as part of a planned trip, which is exactly the kind of thing a concierge handles.

Course access and playing notes for the leading Chilean clubs, 2026 season. Private clubs do not post visitor green fees publicly; access is arranged. Always confirm directly before booking.

Day 5

Maipo wine valley

A non golf day among the great Cabernet houses of the Maipo, an easy drive from the capital and a highlight in its own right.

Getting there and around

Base in Santiago, arrange the access

Santiago has good long haul connections across the Americas and to Europe, and the best courses sit to the north of the city around Chicureo and in the eastern suburbs beneath the mountains. A driver or a hire car ties the clubs together and opens up the Maipo and Casablanca wine valleys and the coast on rest days.

The key is the access. With the leading clubs private, a Chilean golf trip is built around arranged rounds rather than online bookings, so plan ahead and let someone handle the introductions. Aim for the shoulders of the season for the kindest weather, and give the trip room to breathe as the South American holiday it deserves to be.
