The Best Golf Resorts in Lake Garda
Garda is Italy's densest golf corner: a 36 hole Rossknecht estate at Pozzolengo, a 15th century palazzo with Nicklaus II and Player courses, a Fazio resort behind Peschiera and a Cotton and Pennink 27 that has hosted the Italian Open, all inside half an hour of the southern shore. Here are the five stays that matter, ranked.

How we chose
This list was researched and written by the GolfForKings editorial desk, and every designer, course count and claim on it was checked against resort and club published sources in June 2026. The golf of Lake Garda concentrates in the morainic hills behind the southern shore, between Desenzano and Peschiera, which means one base reaches everything: no transfer days, no repacking, four very different course estates within a thirty minute radius. We ranked on the quality and quantity of golf each property puts at your door first, then the stay itself, and we include one entry that owns no hotel at all because skipping it would make any Garda ranking dishonest.
The season runs March to November with a soft midsummer peak, and the lake's microclimate keeps the courses open most of the winter. Where fees appear they carry their season and year and are indicative rather than guaranteed, so always confirm directly before booking. The wider national picture is in our Italy golf holidays page.
The best on Lake Garda, ranked
Chervo Golf Hotel Spa and Resort San Vigilio, Pozzolengo
The complete golf resort of northern Italy. The Chervo estate at Pozzolengo, recently relisted by some booking platforms as Garda Hotel San Vigilio Golf, spreads 36 Kurt Rossknecht designed holes across a 100 hectare park in the hills south of the lake: three championship nines, Benaco, Solferino and San Martino, rotated into different 18 hole combinations, plus a 9 hole executive loop for the evening. The hotel side carries its weight with two restaurants, three pools, a rooftop terrace and a proper spa, and the apartments suit groups staying a full week. You can play four days here without repeating a routing, which no other property on the lake offers. Our verdict: the default base for a golf first Garda week.
Access: public; residents get preferred rates and tee times. Check stay and play rates.
Palazzo Arzaga Hotel Spa and Golf Resort, Calvagese della Riviera
The aristocrat. Palazzo Arzaga is a restored 15th century manor in the hills above the lake's southwest corner, now operating under the QC Terme wellness group as QC Grand Hotel Villa Arzaga, and it remains the only five star on Garda with championship golf on its own land: Arzaga I, an 18 hole parkland drawn by Jack Nicklaus II, and Arzaga II, a links inflected nine from Gary Player. Frescoed rooms, a destination spa and a kitchen with real ambition complete the estate, and the non golfing half of any couple wins here by a street. The golf is one course plus a nine rather than Chervo's rotating 36, which is the only reason it sits second. Our verdict: the special occasion pick, and the best hotel on this list.
Access: public; spa days book out before tee times do. Check stay and play rates.
Active Hotel Paradiso and Golf, Peschiera del Garda
The quiet achiever on the Veneto shore. The Active Hotel Paradiso occupies a restored 18th century country house behind Peschiera, with the Jim Fazio designed Golf Club Paradiso del Garda rolling over 800,000 square meters of mounds and hollows beside it, a course built to American standards that stays open all year. The hotel runs two outdoor pools, an indoor pool and sauna circuit and an a la carte dining room, and the package machinery, run within the Parc Hotels group, makes it the easiest stay and play buy on the lake. Peschiera's old fortress town and rail station sit minutes away, useful for the Verona evening. Our verdict: the best value true golf resort on Garda, and the right pick for a first visit.
Access: public; year round golf makes it the winter option too. Check stay and play rates.
Splendido Bay Luxury Spa Resort, Padenghe sul Garda
The lakeside option. Everything above sits in the hills; the Splendido Bay puts you on the water itself, a contemporary resort on the Padenghe shore with a private beach, heated indoor pool and a spa that justifies the name. The golf logistics are honest and excellent: Palazzo Arzaga's courses lie about two miles inland and Gardagolf Country Club about three and a half, so both of the lake's best non resort rounds are inside ten minutes while your afternoons belong to the lake. There is no course on the property and no pretense of one. For the trip where swimming off the pontoon matters as much as the morning tee time, this is the address. Our verdict: the best stay for golfers who came for the lake too.
Access: hotel public, golf booked with the clubs. Check stay and play rates.
Gardagolf Country Club, Soiano del Lago
Not a resort, and the best pure golf on the lake. Gardagolf's 27 holes, laid out by the English firm of Cotton, Pennink and Steel beneath the Rocca di Manerba on the southwest shore, are the championship pedigree of the region, a course that has hosted the Italian Open and still sets the local standard for conditioning and difficulty. There is no hotel on the property, so the honest play is to sleep at the Splendido Bay or Palazzo Arzaga, both within ten minutes, and treat Gardagolf as the marquee round of the week. Visitors are welcome with handicap certificates; summer weekend mornings belong to members, so aim midweek. Our verdict: the round your Garda trip is secretly about.
Access: public midweek with handicap certificate; book ahead in season. Check tee times.

Building the trip
Fly into Verona, half an hour from every property on this list, or Milan Bergamo at an hour. The classic week takes four rounds: two on Chervo's rotating nines, the Nicklaus II parkland at Arzaga, and the Cotton and Pennink test at Gardagolf as the finale, with rest days spent on the water or in Verona's old town. Gluttons extend east into the Veneto for Venice and its lagoon courses, and the full national context, from the lakes to Rome, lives in our Italy golf holidays page, with the white glove version on luxury golf tours of Italy.
