Golf in the Veneto
No golf region in Italy comes with this cast of cities. The Veneto runs from Venice across to Verona by way of Padova, Vicenza and the Palladian villas, and the golf is woven through it. On the Lido, a links from 1928 plays among the dunes a vaporetto ride from St Mark's; on the mainland, Arnold Palmer's Ca' della Nave and the 27 holes of Asolo at the foot of Monte Grappa anchor a parkland circuit. This is golf as the lighter half of a Venice and Verona trip. The courses, the season, the costs and how to plan it.

Why golf in the Veneto
The Veneto's signature round is also one of the most unlikely in Italy. Circolo Golf Venezia sits on the dunes at Alberoni, the southern tip of the Venice Lido, a genuine links of par 72 over about 6,039 meters that was founded in 1928 after, the story goes, Henry Ford asked Count Volpi to find him the nearest links. Scottish architect Cruikshank laid out the original; a postwar extension on C.K. Cotton's plan made the present 18 playable from 1951, with an old Venetian fort woven into the holes and pine forest behind the dunes. You reach it by boat from the city, which is reason enough to go.
The mainland fills out a proper week. Near Mestre at Martellago, Ca' della Nave is an Arnold Palmer design from the mid 1980s, a par 72 of water, bunkering and welcoming greens that is the region's modern championship course. In the Treviso hills, Golf Club Asolo spreads 27 holes by European Golf Design and Marco Croze at the foot of Monte Grappa, and near Mogliano the eighteenth century Villa Condulmer marries golf to a grand hotel a short drive from Venice. South toward Padova, the 27 holes of Montecchia by Tom McAuley and the woodland of Frassanelle in the Euganean Hills complete the picture. Between rounds you have Venice, Verona, Vicenza and the Prosecco road. No further argument is offered or required.
The regions
Venice and the Lido
The atmospheric heart: the 1928 links at Alberoni on the Lido, reached by vaporetto, with Ca' della Nave at Martellago and Villa Condulmer near Mogliano on the mainland behind the lagoon.
Treviso and the Asolo hills
Prosecco country: the 27 holes of Golf Club Asolo at the foot of Monte Grappa, with the hill town of Asolo, the Palladian villas and the sparkling wine road alongside.
Padova and the Euganean Hills
The southern parkland: Montecchia's 27 holes beside a medieval castle near the city, and the woodland of Frassanelle in the thermal hills of the Colli Euganei.
Verona and Lake Garda
The western flank: courses around Verona and the southern shore of Lake Garda, an easy pairing of golf with the lake, the opera and the Valpolicella cellars.
Vicenza and the foothills
Palladio's country: clubs scattered through the foothills north of Vicenza, a touring base for golfers who want the villas and the Dolomite views between rounds.
The courses that matter
Circolo Golf Venezia
Italy's most atmospheric round: a par 72 links of about 6,039 meters on the Alberoni dunes at the southern end of the Lido, founded in 1928 with an old Venetian fort in play and pine forest behind the sandhills. Reached by boat from Venice. A members club that receives visitors by arrangement; book ahead.
Golf Club Ca' della Nave
The region's modern championship course: a par 72 by Arnold Palmer near Mestre, laced with water and bunkers around dogleg fairways and broad greens. The most testing parkland near Venice, and the one most often paired with the Lido links for a two course city break.
Golf Club Asolo
The resort scale option: 27 holes of mature parkland at the foot of Monte Grappa, in the Prosecco hills below the hill town of Asolo. Flexible combinations, a relaxed members feel and the sparkling wine road on the doorstep make it a comfortable golf base in the north of the region.
Golf della Montecchia
27 holes of par 72 parkland beside the medieval castle of the Villa dei Conti Emo Capodilista, southwest of Padova. A well regarded McAuley design that, with the woodland of Frassanelle nearby in the Euganean Hills, anchors the golf of the southern Veneto.
Golf Club Villa Condulmer
Golf with a grand hotel attached: a parkland 18 in the park of an eighteenth century villa about 23 kilometers from Venice, the front nine by John Harris from 1960 and the back nine by Marco Croze from 1970. The stay and play address closest to the city.
The wider region
The Veneto supports a deep field of members and resort clubs out toward Verona, Lake Garda and the Vicenza foothills. We profile them as the directory grows; for a city led week, the courses above are the spine, and our concierge can sequence the rest around your base.

When to go
| Season | Conditions | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| April to June | Warm, green, long evenings; the parkland at its best and the cities pleasant | Prime season; pair golf with Venice and Verona |
| July to August | Hot and humid inland, eased by sea air on the Lido | Early tee times; the Lido links is the cool pick |
| September to October | Warm, settling, the grape harvest in the hills | The connoisseur's window; Prosecco country at its best |
| November to March | Cool, damp in spells, courses open on bright days | Quiet and cheap; city breaks with a round attached |
The Veneto plays best in the shoulders, when the golf, the cities and the wine country all align.

Getting there and around
Two airports serve the region: Venice Marco Polo, on the lagoon edge near the mainland courses, and Verona on the western side near Lake Garda, with Treviso a third low cost option in the heart of Prosecco country. A car makes the golf easy, since the courses spread from the Lido to Verona across a wide plain, though the Venice Lido links is the exception, reached by vaporetto from the city rather than by road. Most golfers base in or near Venice for the Lido and mainland courses, then move west toward Verona and Garda if the trip runs that far.
Where to stay
Venice itself is the romantic base, with the Lido a hotel district in its own right beside the links and the beaches, an easy water bus from St Mark's. On the mainland, Villa Condulmer offers golf and a grand eighteenth century villa hotel within reach of the city, and the hill town of Asolo makes a charming Prosecco country base for the northern courses. Toward the west, Verona and the southern shore of Lake Garda pair golf with the opera, the lake and the Valpolicella cellars. Most Veneto trips are city first, golf second, which the region rewards.
Plan your Veneto golf trip
Tell us whether the week is built around Venice and the Lido links, the Prosecco hills at Asolo, or a city run out to Verona and Garda, and roughly when. One concierge secures the tee times, including the arrangements the Venice Lido club requires, sorts the base and the transfers, and costs the whole trip to the head, with no obligation.
Veneto golf questions
Where can you play golf near Venice?
Three courses sit within reach of Venice. Circolo Golf Venezia, on the dunes at Alberoni at the southern tip of the Lido, is the most atmospheric, a links founded in 1928 reachable by vaporetto and a short ride from St Mark's. On the mainland near Mestre, Ca' della Nave at Martellago is an Arnold Palmer design from the mid 1980s, and Golf Club Villa Condulmer near Mogliano Veneto, about 23 kilometers from the city, pairs golf with a grand eighteenth century villa hotel. Always confirm visitor access directly before booking.
What is the best golf course in the Veneto?
It depends on the kind of golf you want. For atmosphere and history, Circolo Golf Venezia on the Venice Lido is unmatched, a par 72 links of about 6,039 meters laid out on the Alberoni dunes from 1928, with an old Venetian fort in play. For a modern championship test, Arnold Palmer's Ca' della Nave near Mestre is the pick, and for resort scale the 27 holes of Golf Club Asolo at the foot of Monte Grappa lead the Treviso hills. Always confirm access directly before booking.
How much are green fees in the Veneto in 2026?
Plan on roughly 70 to 120 euros at the courses that matter. The Venice Lido links at Circolo Golf Venezia and the championship parkland at Ca' della Nave sit at the upper end; the 27 hole resorts at Asolo and Montecchia near Padova, and the villa course at Villa Condulmer, generally price below that, with midweek and golf package rates lower again. None of it is expensive by international resort standards. Always confirm current fees directly before booking.
When is the best time to play golf in the Veneto?
April to June and September to October. The Veneto sits on the Po plain with a continental climate, so spring and autumn give the best conditions: comfortable temperatures, green courses and the cities at their most pleasant. High summer is hot and humid inland, eased a little by the sea air on the Lido, and winter golf is quiet and possible on bright days but damp in spells. Spring and autumn also pair the golf with Venice, Verona and the Prosecco hills at their best.
