The Best Golf Resorts in Europe
A Ryder Cup estate in Ireland, four courses on a Greek headland, a Solheim Cup host on the Costa del Sol and a Nicklaus masterpiece in the Algarve. The best of European resort golf, where the hotel, the spa and the dining match the course. Our eight, ranked, with verdicts and how to play each one.
How we picked them
A great golf resort is more than a great course. It is the room you walk back to, the dinner that follows the round, the spa for the non golfers and the sense that the whole place is run to one high standard. We weighed the quality and pedigree of the golf first, championship hosting and architecture, then the strength of the hotel and dining, the depth of courses on site and how complete a trip the resort makes for a group or a couple. Pure private clubs without a hotel were left off, because this list is built around stay and play.
Every fact here, the designers, the dates and the championships hosted, was checked at the time of writing. Resort rates and green fees move hard with the season across Europe, so treat any figure as a guide and always confirm directly before booking. The verdicts are ours. If you want any of these built into a costed itinerary, that is exactly what our concierge does.

European golf resort questions
What is the best golf resort in Europe?
Adare Manor in Ireland is our number one, a five star manor estate with a Tom Fazio redesigned championship course chosen to host the 2027 Ryder Cup. Costa Navarino in Greece, with four courses and the most complete multi course offering on the continent, and Finca Cortesin in Spain, host of the 2023 Solheim Cup, are close behind. The best European resort for you depends on whether you want one flagship course or a week of variety.
Which European golf resort has the most courses?
Costa Navarino in the Greek Peloponnese has four full championship courses, the Bernhard Langer designed Dunes, the Robert Trent Jones Junior Bay, plus the International Olympic Academy and Hills courses, making it the strongest single base in Europe for a multi course golf week. Quinta do Lago and Gleneagles each offer three.
When is the best time for a European golf trip?
Southern Europe, the Algarve, the Costa del Sol, Sicily and Greece, plays best from March to June and again in September and October, warm and dry without the peak heat. Ireland, Scotland and the French inland resorts are at their finest from May to September. Green fees and resort rates peak in those windows, so always confirm seasonal fees directly before booking.
