The Best Golf Courses in Bali

Bali plays golf the way it does everything: with more beauty per acre than seems fair. A clifftop links above the surf breaks, a championship parkland at Nusa Dua, a 1974 classic inside a volcano crater and the world's most spectacular par 3 course. Here are the four courses that matter in 2026, ranked, with honest fees and the one famous absence explained.

How we ranked them

This list was compiled by the GolfForKings editorial desk using our standard method: architecture first, then setting, conditioning, visitor experience and value, with every fact checked against the clubs and their booking partners in June 2026. Bali is not a high volume golf destination, and that is its charm: four genuinely distinct courses, each under two hours from the southern resorts, each bookable by visitors, and all four comfortably worth a tee time on a holiday built mostly around beaches, temples and tables. Our how we rank page explains the criteria in full.

One note before the ranking. Nirwana Bali, the Greg Norman masterpiece beside Tanah Lot temple and once the island's undisputed number one, closed in 2017 for a Trump branded redevelopment with a planned Phil Mickelson redesign, and as of June 2026 it has not reopened and no opening date is confirmed. It is not ranked because you cannot play it. The moment that changes, this list changes.

The ranking

01

Bali National Golf Club

Nelson and Wright, 1991, rebuilt 2013 · Nusa Dua · indicative 2026 fee about $130 to $185 with cart and caddie

The island's most complete championship course. Built in 1991 as Bali Golf and Country Club and comprehensively rebuilt in 2013, Bali National runs through three landscapes in one round: lakeside lowland holes, a creek crossed middle stretch under huge ficus trees, and a closing run toward the Nusa Dua resort strip. Conditioning is the best on Bali, the par 3 17th over water is the signature, and the location inside the Nusa Dua enclave makes it the easy first booking for a resort based trip. Mandatory caddies are knowledgeable and the practice facility is the island's best. Indicative 2026 visitor rates land around $130 to $185 including shared cart and caddie; always confirm directly before booking.

02

New Kuta Golf

Fream, Dale and Ramsey, 2007 · Pecatu, Bukit Peninsula · indicative 2026 fee about IDR 2,200,000 with cart and caddie

The drama queen. Indonesia's first links style course spreads across the limestone tableland of the Bukit Peninsula, and its back nine edges toward cliffs above the world famous surf breaks at Dreamland and Balangan. The Golfplan team of Ronald Fream, David Dale and Kevin Ramsey gave it width, run and constant wind, and the par 3s hanging over the Indian Ocean are the most photographed golf holes in Indonesia. It is firmer, bouncier and more exposed than anything else on the island, which makes it the round traveling links players should not skip. About IDR 2,200,000 in 2026 including cart and caddie, indicative; always confirm directly before booking.

03

Handara Golf & Resort

Thomson and Wolveridge, 1974 · Bedugul highlands · indicative 2026 fee from about IDR 1,600,000

One of the most extraordinary settings in world golf: the floor of an extinct volcano crater 1,200 meters up in the Bedugul highlands, ringed by rainforest ridges and often wrapped in drifting mist. Peter Thomson and Michael Wolveridge laid Handara out in 1974 and it remains gloriously old fashioned, flattish fairways lined by cypress and flowering hedges, cool mountain air, and the famous candy striped gates that have become a Bali landmark in their own right. The drive from the southern resorts takes about two hours, so pair it with the Ulun Danu temple on the lake next door and make a day of it. From about IDR 1,600,000 in 2026, indicative; always confirm directly before booking.

04

Bukit Pandawa Golf & Country Club

Bob Moore, JMP, 2016 · Kutuh, Bukit Peninsula · par 54 · indicative 2026 fee from about IDR 1,750,000

Southeast Asia's first championship par 3 course, and proof the format can be serious golf. Bob Moore of JMP Golf Design draped 18 one shotters from 90 to 230 yards across a limestone clifftop above Pandawa Beach, with carved white stone walls, ocean horizons and greens good enough to host professional events. For a holiday group of mixed abilities it might be the most fun on the island: two and a half hours, every club in the bag, and views that out punch courses three times the length. From about IDR 1,750,000 in 2026, indicative; always confirm directly before booking.

Fees verified June 2026 from the clubs and their booking partners; Bali rates are dynamic and bundled with carts and caddies, so always confirm directly before booking.

Building the trip around them

Base in Nusa Dua, Uluwatu or Seminyak and the golf organizes itself: Bali National and Bukit Pandawa sit in the southern resort belt, New Kuta is 30 to 45 minutes away on the Bukit, and Handara is the one early start. Play the dry season, roughly May to September, book morning tee times, and leave the afternoons for surf, spas and temple light. Our Bali golf holidays page maps a full week with costs, our Bali green fees guide breaks down every rate, and if you are weighing islands, Bali vs Phuket settles the Southeast Asia question honestly.

Bali golf questions

What is the best golf course in Bali?

Bali National Golf Club at Nusa Dua is our pick: the 1991 Nelson and Wright design was comprehensively rebuilt in 2013 and remains the island's most complete championship test, with creeks, mature tropical trees and the slickest conditioning on Bali. New Kuta Golf runs it close for drama on the Pecatu clifftops.

Is Nirwana Bali open?

No. The celebrated Greg Norman course beside Tanah Lot temple closed in 2017 for a planned Trump branded redevelopment with a new Phil Mickelson design, and as of June 2026 the project remains stalled with no confirmed reopening date. Until it returns, Bali National and New Kuta carry the island's flag.

How much does golf cost in Bali?

Indicative 2026 visitor rates: roughly IDR 2,200,000, about $135, at New Kuta including cart and caddie; about $130 to $185 at Bali National depending on day and season; from about IDR 1,600,000 at Handara; and from about IDR 1,750,000 at Bukit Pandawa. Twilight and sundowner rates cut those numbers sharply. Always confirm directly before booking.

When is the best time to play golf in Bali?

The dry season, roughly May to September, brings the most reliable golf weather. Mornings are best year round before heat and afternoon build ups, and Handara in the highlands plays refreshingly cool at any time. The wet season, November to March, still offers playable mornings between showers.
