The Best Golf Courses in Croatia

Croatia is one of Europe's youngest golf scenes, a handful of courses scattered between the Istrian coast and the capital. The best of them sit among vineyards, oak woodland and the Adriatic light. Our ranked five, with the verdict on each, the designers and indicative 2026 green fees.

How we ranked them

Golf came late to Croatia and the country still counts only a small number of full courses, which makes choosing where to play refreshingly simple. The strength is in the contrast, from the manicured Istrian parkland a short drive from Venice and Trieste to the lake studded layouts around Zagreb and the historic island course on Brijuni. We weight the quality and variety of the holes, the condition and the sense of place, leaning toward the courses that pair championship calibre design with a setting you cannot find anywhere else. For most travellers the natural trip is Istria for the coast and the food, with a round or two near Zagreb on the way in or out.

The ranking

1

Golf Club Adriatic

Diethard Fahrenleitner and Barbara Eisserer · Crveni Vrh, Istria

The most polished round in the country, an 18 hole par 72 laid out by Diethard Fahrenleitner and Barbara Eisserer on a hillside above the northern Istrian coast, close to the Slovenian border and a short hop from Trieste. Five tee positions per hole frame views of vineyards, olive groves and the Gulf of Trieste, and the conditioning is the best in Croatia. The obvious centrepiece of an Istrian golf trip.

Indicative 2026 green fee around €70 to €100. Always confirm directly before booking.
2

Dolina Kardinala

Howard Swan · near Krasic, Zagreb County

Croatia's first 18 hole course, a par 71 of roughly 6,600 yards designed by the English architect Howard Swan in the wooded valley of Jastrebarsko, southwest of Zagreb. The name translates as the Valley of the Cardinals, and the holes wind through gentle, forest framed country with water in play. A mature, characterful test and an easy add on the way to or from the coast.

Indicative 2026 green fee around €50 to €75. Always confirm directly before booking.
3

Riverside Golf Zagreb

Howard Swan · Zagreb

Opened in 2017 a few minutes from the centre of Zagreb beside the river Sava, the championship course is another Howard Swan design, a par 72 of around 6,400 metres built to full PGA specification with eleven lakes threaded through the layout. Convenient, modern and well conditioned, it is the natural choice for a round in the capital and pairs well with a city stay.

Indicative 2026 green fee around €60 to €85. Always confirm directly before booking.
4

Brijuni

Historic island course, established 1922 · Brijuni National Park, near Pula

The most atmospheric round in Croatia, an 18 hole par 71 of about 5,500 metres set on the island of Veli Brijun within the Brijuni National Park, off the southern Istrian coast near Pula. Established in 1922 in the era when the islands were a fashionable retreat, it is short and quirky rather than long, but the setting among the cypresses, ruins and sea is like nowhere else. Reach it by the short ferry from Fazana.

Indicative 2026 green fee around €50 to €80. Always confirm directly before booking.
5

Spa and Golf Resort Sveti Martin

Nine hole parkland · Sveti Martin na Muri, Medjimurje

In the green, rolling Medjimurje region of continental Croatia near the Slovenian and Hungarian borders, this nine hole parkland course anchors a well run spa and wellness resort. It is the most complete golf and relaxation base in the country's north, gentle and friendly rather than demanding, and a pleasant detour for travellers combining golf with the thermal spas of the region.

Indicative 2026 green fee around €30 to €45. Always confirm directly before booking.
