The Best Golf Courses in Cyprus

Cyprus packs almost all of its golf into the hills above Paphos, where four championship courses sit within twenty minutes of one another and the season runs in winter when the rest of Europe is closed. Here are the six we rate, ranked, with our verdict on each and how to play it.

How we chose them

Cyprus is a compact golf destination with a clear center of gravity. The Paphos region holds the four courses that matter most, a tight cluster of championship layouts where a visiting group can play a different course every day without ever driving more than half an hour. Add the lone resort course on the north coast and a quirky, affordable members club in the Limassol hills and you have the whole island in six names. We weighed the quality of the design, the conditioning and setting, the strength of the wider resort, and how readily a traveling golfer can get on, then ranked accordingly.

Every fact here, the designers, the founding years and the indicative green fees, was checked at the time of writing in June 2026 by the GolfForKings editorial desk. Fees move with the season and the year, and Cyprus is at its busiest and dearest in the cool winter months, so treat the numbers as a guide and always confirm directly before booking. The verdicts are ours. If your group wants these built into a costed Paphos itinerary with transfers and tee times handled, that is exactly what our concierge does.

The 6 best golf courses in Cyprus

01

Aphrodite Hills, PGA National Cyprus

Cabell Robinson, 2002 · Paphos · Par 71

The island's flagship and the only course in Cyprus to carry the PGA National designation, awarded after a thorough reconstruction completed in 2018. Cabell Robinson routed it across two plateaus split by a deep ravine, so the round opens on one tableland, crosses the gorge and finishes on the other, with the carry over the canyon to the par 3 seventh the signature moment. At a little under 6,900 yards it is grand, manicured resort golf with a five star hotel, villas and a second short course alongside, which makes it the natural base for a Paphos trip.

02

Minthis

Donald Steel, 1994 · Mackenzie and Ebert remodel · Tsada

The connoisseur's choice and the oldest course on the island, laid out by Donald Steel in 1994 around a twelfth century monastery in the hills at Tsada, some 550 metres above the sea. A sympathetic remodel by Mackenzie and Ebert turned it into one of the most natural courses in the Mediterranean, where vineyards, olive groves and wild herbs frame fairways that sit lightly on the rolling terrain. The elevation keeps it cooler in the shoulder seasons, and the sense of place is unmatched in Cyprus. A standout for golfers who value architecture and atmosphere over polish.

03

Elea Golf Club

Sir Nick Faldo, 2010 · Geroskipou, near Paphos · Par 71

Sir Nick Faldo's only Cyprus design, opened in 2010 on a hillside above Geroskipou with long views to the Mediterranean. The par 71 layout runs through olive groves and carob trees with the heavy, strategic bunkering that marks Faldo's work, asking for thought off the tee and a steady nerve into firm greens. It anchors a residential resort with a smart clubhouse, and its position a quarter of an hour from the other Paphos courses makes it an easy and rewarding addition to a multi course week.

04

Secret Valley Golf Club

Tony Jacklin design · near Petra tou Romiou · Par 71

A scenic par 71 carved into a dramatic valley near Petra tou Romiou, the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, and only a few minutes from Aphrodite Hills. Towering rock formations and natural ravines give the round real drama, and the closing stretch back toward the clubhouse is among the most photogenic in Cyprus. It plays a touch shorter and gentler than its neighbors, which makes it a fine, enjoyable round for mixed ability groups and a natural pairing with the bigger championship course up the road.

05

Korineum Golf and Country Club

Opened 2007 · Esentepe, North Cyprus · Par 72

The best golf on the northern side of the island, a par 72 of around 6,232 metres opened in 2007 on the coast at Esentepe, with the Kyrenia mountains rising behind and the sea spread out in front. The setting is the draw, a green ribbon between mountain and Mediterranean that few courses anywhere can match for backdrop. It sits a long way from the Paphos cluster and across a political line, so it suits golfers basing in the north rather than a single touring week, but on scenery alone it earns its place.

06

Vikla Golf and Country Club

Limassol district · Par 69 · value round

The island's affordable outlier, a relaxed par 69 in the hills of the Limassol district that does things its own way, with a clever layout that uses shared greens to fit a full round into a smaller footprint. It is not a championship test and does not pretend to be, but it is friendly, walkable and a fraction of the price of the Paphos resorts, which makes it a sound choice for a casual round, a society day or a golfer based around Limassol who wants a game without the long drive west.

Where they are, and indicative costs

Four of the six courses, Aphrodite Hills, Minthis, Elea and Secret Valley, cluster in the hills around Paphos within twenty to thirty minutes of one another, which is what makes Cyprus such an efficient multi course trip. Korineum sits alone on the north coast near Kyrenia, reached through the north of the island, and Vikla lies inland from Limassol. Most visiting golfers base in or near Paphos, hire a car and play the four southern courses across a few days, with the international airport at Paphos a short transfer away.

Cyprus golf questions

What is the best golf course in Cyprus?

Aphrodite Hills, the island's PGA National course, is the flagship and our pick for the best all round resort golf, with its dramatic ravine crossing and five star base. Purists often prefer Minthis, the oldest and most natural course on the island, set in the hills at Tsada. Our ranking weighs design, setting and ease of access together.

When is the best time to play golf in Cyprus?

Cyprus is a winter golf destination. October to April gives warm, comfortable days when much of Europe is too cold to play, which is also the peak and dearest season. High summer is very hot, so early tee times are essential from June to August. Always confirm course conditions and opening before you travel.

How many golf courses are there in Cyprus, and how close are they?

The island has a small number of courses, with the four that matter most, Aphrodite Hills, Minthis, Elea and Secret Valley, clustered in the hills around Paphos within twenty to thirty minutes of one another. Korineum sits on the north coast and Vikla inland from Limassol. Most visiting golfers base near Paphos and play the four southern courses across a few days.
