The Kingdom of Fife Golf Packages: Where to Stay and Play
Fife packs more than 40 courses into a peninsula an hour across, which makes it the easiest great golf destination in the world to package badly. The base you pick decides the trip: St Andrews town for the ballot, the East Neuk for charm and value, the south coast for Dumbarnie at your door. Here is how to assemble the Kingdom properly in 2026.

Who a Kingdom of Fife package suits
Groups who want one unpacking and a different great links every morning. Nothing in Fife is more than about 40 minutes from anything else, so a single base serves the whole peninsula: the Old Course ballot, Kingsbarns and Dumbarnie as bookable anchors, and a dozen honest village links underneath them. It suits buddies trips that mix a 486 pound marquee day with 90 pound classics, and couples trips where one partner golfs while the other gets a medieval university town and the East Neuk harbors.
This page covers bases and package shapes. For the round by round holiday blueprint see Fife golf holidays, and for the destination overview start at the St Andrews and Fife hub.
The three bases, honestly compared
St Andrews town: the ballot base
Stay here if the Old Course is the mission. You can walk from most hotels to the first tee, the daily ballot result lands around 5pm while you are at dinner, and a winning draw never collides with a long drive. The Links Trust's New Course, Jubilee and Castle courses fill non ballot days without a car. The cost: the smallest hotel stock in Scottish golf and the highest room rates, booked six to twelve months out for summer. Worth it for first timers, every time.
The East Neuk: Crail, Anstruther and Elie
Twenty minutes south, the fishing villages trade convenience for character and meaningfully lower bills. Crail's Balcomie Links and Elie are on the doorstep, Kingsbarns sits between you and St Andrews, and Anstruther serves the best fish and chips in Scotland to a queue that agrees. Self catering houses here suit groups of six to eight better than any St Andrews hotel split.
Lundin and the south coast: the Dumbarnie base
Largo Bay puts Dumbarnie Links closest of all, with Lundin's Open qualifying links and Leven next door and the A915 running everything north in half an hour. This is the budget conscious base that gives up the least golf, and the right answer for return visitors who have done the town and want tee times over souvenirs.
The anchor rounds every package shares
Whatever the base, the bookable anchors are Kingsbarns at 399 pounds in spring and 486 pounds from May 1 to November 8, 2026, and Dumbarnie at around 335 pounds at 2025 published rates with 2026 confirmed on booking. The Old Course stays a 355 pound ballot prize rather than a bookable line item unless you pay an authorized operator's package premium. All fees indicative; always confirm directly before booking.
Package shapes that work

| The long weekend strike | 3 nights Lundin or Leven; Dumbarnie, Kingsbarns, Elie | Roughly 900 to 1,000 pounds across three rounds |
We do not quote our own pricing; totals depend on season, lodging tier and group size. Check tee time availability or browse Fife golf hotels.
When to book and when to go
Assemble summer packages six to twelve months ahead: St Andrews rooms go first, then Kingsbarns and Dumbarnie summer mornings, then everything else. May, June and September are the prime windows, April and October the value ones, with Kingsbarns' 399 pound spring rate the single best marquee saving on the calendar. Build the lodging and the two anchors first, leave one morning unbooked for ballot luck, and remember the Old Course closes on Sundays, which is the day to book Dumbarnie or drive the East Neuk. Winter packages exist for the hardy and cost a fraction of July.

Kingdom of Fife package questions
What does a Kingdom of Fife golf package cost?
Green fees set the floor. A marquee week stacking Kingsbarns at 486 pounds in the 2026 main season, Dumbarnie at around 335 pounds at 2025 rates and an Old Course ballot win at 355 pounds runs past 1,500 pounds in golf alone, while a value week built on Crail, Elie, Lundin, Scotscraig and the Links Trust's New Course can stay under 800 pounds. Lodging spans hostel simple to five star; package totals are third party and seasonal, so always confirm directly before booking.
Where should a Fife golf package be based?
St Andrews town if the Old Course ballot is the mission: you can walk to the first tee, ballot results land while you are at dinner, and the New, Jubilee and Castle courses are on the doorstep. The East Neuk villages, Crail, Anstruther and Elie, suit groups who want fishing harbor charm and lower room rates within 25 minutes of everything. Lundin and Leven on the south coast put Dumbarnie closest of all and keep budgets honest.
Do package operators get Old Course tee times?
Authorized providers can package guaranteed Old Course times, usually bundled with hotel nights and other rounds, at a substantial premium over the 355 pound 2026 green fee. For everyone else it is advance release or the daily ballot. Our approach: build the package around guaranteed anchors at Kingsbarns and Dumbarnie, enter the ballot daily, and decide up front whether a guaranteed time is worth the operator premium to your group.
How far ahead should a Fife package be booked?
Six to twelve months for summer. St Andrews hotel stock is small and July and August sell out first; Kingsbarns and Dumbarnie summer mornings go through winter; and the better East Neuk houses are booked by spring. Shoulder months are kinder: an April or October package assembled in the new year still gets first choice tee times and the 399 pound spring rate at Kingsbarns.
