Tenerife Golf Packages and Breaks

Golf in shirtsleeves in January, a volcano on the skyline, and a circuit that runs from a Seve Ballesteros clifftop to a Ritz-Carlton with its own Dave Thomas course. Tenerife is Europe's most reliable winter golf trip. Here is who it suits, the courses to build around, a sample five night structure and indicative 2026 costs.

Who this trip suits

A Tenerife golf package is built for the golfer who refuses to put the clubs away in November. The largest of the Canary Islands sits off the African coast, and the Atlantic keeps its southern shore mild and dry while northern Europe is under water. Peak season runs November to April, the reverse of almost everywhere else, and the island plays golf all twelve months. It suits buddy groups chasing 36 holes and a late dinner in Costa Adeje, couples splitting rounds with whale watching and the cable car up Mount Teide, and anyone who wants resort comfort with serious golf attached.

It is a trip of two islands in one. The south is the engine room, a tight cluster of courses and hotels around Costa Adeje, Playa de las Americas and the airport, where transfers are short and the golf is social. The north is greener, quieter and older, home to a Seve design on the cliffs and a club founded in 1932. Our Tenerife versus Gran Canaria comparison settles the family argument, and the full ranking lives in our guide to the best golf courses in Tenerife.

The courses to build around

Abama Golf, Dave Thomas designed terraces of fairway and palm trees above the Atlantic in Guia de Isora, Tenerife

Abama

Dave Thomas, 2005 · Par 72 · Indicative 2026 from 175 euros, buggy included

The marquee round. Dave Thomas carved Abama down volcanic terraces below Mount Teide in 2005, lining the par 72 with palms and bright white sand, with The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama in the grounds. Indicative public rates run 175 euros in summer 2026, 225 in October and 260 through peak winter 2026 to 2027, with a GPS buggy included in the fee.

Golf Costa Adeje

27 holes · Indicative winter 2025 to 2026 fee 140 euros

The south coast workhorse, terraced through old banana plantations behind more than 5,000 meters of restored stone walls. A par 72 championship course plus a nine hole par 33 give it 27 holes, minutes from the Costa Adeje hotels, at an indicative 140 euros for 18 holes in the winter 2025 to 2026 season. Beginners and rusty partners can warm up nearby at Centro de Golf Los Palos, the area's friendly short course.

Buenavista Golf

Seve Ballesteros, 2003 · Indicative fees 74 to 135 euros

Severiano Ballesteros laid Buenavista along the cliffs of the island's far northwest in 2003, an unusual symmetry of six par 3s, six par 4s and six par 5s with the ocean crashing below the closing stretch. The Melia Hacienda del Conde sits alongside for those who stay north. Indicative rates run about 74 euros in summer up to 135 euros in the winter 2026 to 2027 high season.

Golf del Sur and Amarilla

Airport cluster · Indicative 18 hole rates from about 93 euros

The convenience play: two neighboring clubs beside Tenerife South airport. Golf del Sur offers 27 holes famous for bunkers of black volcanic sand, with indicative 18 hole rates from about 93 euros, while Amarilla, a Donald Steel design, runs its closing holes hard along the ocean. Golf Las Americas serves the main resort strip, and Real Club de Golf de Tenerife, founded in 1932 and routinely cited as the second oldest club in Spain, rewards the drive north.

Designers, opening dates and layouts verified June 2026. Green fees are indicative club published or third party figures for the seasons stated, vary by date and tee time, and change with demand. Always confirm directly before booking. Full rate detail sits in our Tenerife green fees guide.

A sample five night Tenerife trip

Day 1

Land south, loosen up

Fly into Tenerife South, check into a Costa Adeje hotel, and shake off the flight with a casual nine at Centro de Golf Los Palos or a twilight time at Golf Las Americas, which lists reduced late afternoon winter rates.

Day 2

Golf Costa Adeje

The first full round, ten minutes from the hotel, through the stone walled banana terraces with La Gomera filling the view behind the greens. Book a morning time before the breeze builds, then give the afternoon to the pool.

Day 3

The Abama day

The headliner. Drive a short stretch up the coast to Guia de Isora and play Abama's plunging terraces with the buggy doing the climbing. Non players can book the spa at The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama.

Day 4

North to Buenavista

The road trip round. Head up the west coast to Buenavista del Norte for the Seve clifftop course, then come home the scenic way past Garachico's lava pools and the viewpoints above Masca.

Day 5

The airport cluster

Choose your closer: the black sand bunkers of Golf del Sur or Amarilla's ocean holes, both minutes from the runway you fly out of.

Day 6

Fly home

A slow breakfast before the short transfer to Tenerife South. Five rounds, one volcano, no waterproofs required.

Drives in the southern cluster are short; the Buenavista day is the exception, a longer scenic run up the west coast. Carry a handicap certificate, as Abama and several other clubs ask visitors for one.

Best time to book

Tenerife inverts the usual golf calendar. November to April is high season, when the island absorbs northern Europe's winter golfers and green fees, hotel rates and tee sheets all peak together; Abama's indicative public rate climbs from 175 euros in summer 2026 to 260 through peak winter. For a winter week, lock flights, rooms and the Abama tee time two to four months out, earlier still for Christmas, New Year and February half term. May to October is the value window: rates fall sharply, the south coast stays warm and dry, and packages can come together inside a few weeks. Book the Abama round first, then arrange the rest of the week around it; our guide on how to play golf in Tenerife covers handicap rules, dress and buggy etiquette.

Plan your Tenerife golf break

We hold the Abama time before the winter sheets fill, route the Buenavista day, and match the hotel to golfers and non golfers alike. Tell us roughly when and who is traveling, and one concierge costs it and replies within one working day, with no obligation.

Tenerife golf package questions

What are the best golf courses in Tenerife?

Abama is the headline act, a Dave Thomas design from 2005 that steps down volcanic terraces below Mount Teide beside The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama. Buenavista Golf, a Severiano Ballesteros design opened in 2003, holds the clifftops of the quiet northwest coast, and Golf Costa Adeje is terraced through old banana plantations above the southern resorts. Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf form a convenient cluster beside Tenerife South airport, while Real Club de Golf de Tenerife in the north, founded in 1932 and routinely cited as the second oldest club in Spain, supplies the history.

How much does a Tenerife golf package cost?

Operator listed 2026 packages run from roughly 739 to 1,135 pounds per person for seven nights with four rounds based in the south coast resorts. Seven nights half board with green fees, airport transfers and a daily golf shuttle lists from around 1,200 euros per person. At the top, five nights at The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama with three rounds lists from about 1,682 euros per person. All figures are indicative, so always confirm directly before booking.

When is the best time for a Tenerife golf trip?

Tenerife plays golf all year, which is the island's whole pitch. November to April is peak season, when northern Europe flies south for winter sun and both green fees and hotel rates hit their highs, so book tee times and rooms two to four months ahead. May to October is noticeably cheaper, with Abama easing from an indicative 260 euros in the peak winter 2026 to 2027 season to 175 euros in summer 2026, and the south coast stays warm and dry even when cloud sits on the north.

Where should you stay for a Tenerife golf holiday?

Costa Adeje is the default base, with the island's deepest bench of hotels and restaurants, Golf Costa Adeje and Las Americas close at hand and Abama a short drive up the coast. For one roof convenience, The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama sits inside its own course, and the Melia Hacienda del Conde plays the same role beside Buenavista in the quiet northwest. Golf del Sur suits groups who want self catering beside 27 holes, with Amarilla next door and Tenerife South airport minutes away.
