Who this trip suits

Mauritius is the trip for golfers who want serious championship courses without giving up the beach. It suits couples, honeymooners who both play, and small buddies groups who would rather pair four or five rounds with a catamaran day and long lagoon lunches than grind out golf every morning. The standard is genuinely high: this is a small island with five resort courses laid out by Peter Matkovich, Bernhard Langer and Ernie Els, all kept in immaculate, year round condition. It is a long haul flight of around twelve hours from Europe, so most groups stay a full week and treat it as a once in a few years trip rather than a quick golf break.

If your group has one marquee round in it, make it Heritage Le Chateau at Bel Ombre in the southwest. If you want variety, base on the east coast where Anahita and Ile aux Cerfs sit minutes apart, and add a day trip across the island. The golf is excellent, but the real pull is playing it with the Indian Ocean in view and a five star resort waiting at the turn.

The courses to build around

Heritage Le Chateau championship course at Bel Ombre, Mauritius

Heritage Golf Club, Le Chateau

Peter Matkovich, 2004 · Par 72 · Indicative 2026 green fee from €120

Routinely rated the finest course in Mauritius and a multiple DP World Tour host. A Peter Matkovich design rolling through the forested Bel Ombre estate in the southwest, with the Citronniers and St Martin rivers crossing fairways and views to the mountains and the sea. The premium round of any Mauritius trip.

Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club on its private island off the east coast of Mauritius

Ile aux Cerfs

Bernhard Langer, 2003 · Par 72 · Private island

A Bernhard Langer design that fills its own island off the east coast, reached by a short shuttle boat across the lagoon. Holes thread through rock, forest and water with the turquoise lagoon never far away. As much an experience as a round, and one of the most memorable golf settings anywhere.

Anahita Four Seasons golf course along the lagoon on the east coast of Mauritius

Anahita, Four Seasons

Ernie Els · Par 72 · Lagoon front

Ernie Els' first design in Mauritius, opened in 2008 along the east coast lagoon at the Four Seasons. Several holes run right beside the water, with generous landing areas off the tee and well defended greens. It now shares a unified golf cluster with neighbouring Ile aux Cerfs, minutes away.

Legend Course at Constance Belle Mare Plage, east coast of Mauritius

Constance Belle Mare Plage, Legend

Hugh Baiocchi · Par 72 · Tour history

The Legend course carves through an old hunting estate on the east coast, framed by mature trees and home to deer that wander the fairways. A long time host of senior tour and ladies tour golf, it is the more characterful of Constance Belle Mare Plage's two layouts, with the Links course a worthy second round.

Paradis Beachcomber golf course at the foot of Le Morne mountain, Mauritius

Paradis, Beachcomber

Par 72 · Le Morne peninsula

A flat, walkable resort course wrapped around the foot of the UNESCO listed Le Morne mountain in the southwest, with the sea on one side and the peak on the other. The most relaxed round of a Mauritius week and an easy pairing with a stay at the Paradis or Dinarobin resorts.

Designers, years and tour history verified June 2026. Green fees are indicative third party figures for the 2026 season and change with demand and resort status. Always confirm directly before booking.

A sample seven night, four round trip

Day 1

Arrive and settle

Fly into Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam airport in the south, transfer to your east coast or southwest resort, and ease in with the beach and an evening by the lagoon.

Day 2

Anahita, Four Seasons

Open on the Ernie Els lagoon course, ten minutes from an east coast base. Lunch at the clubhouse, afternoon on the water or by the pool.

Day 3

Ile aux Cerfs

The island round. Shuttle boat across the lagoon to the Bernhard Langer course, then stay on the island for a swim and a long seafood lunch before the boat back.

Day 4

Rest and explore

A non golf day for a catamaran trip, the Black River Gorges or Port Louis market, keeping legs fresh for the marquee round to come.

Day 5

Heritage Le Chateau

The bucket list round at Bel Ombre in the southwest. Build the day around it with lunch on the estate; consider a night on this coast to save the long transfer.

Day 6

Constance Belle Mare Plage, Legend

Back on the east coast for the deer lined Legend course, or play Paradis under Le Morne if you moved southwest. Final evening for a celebration dinner.

Day 7

Beach, then home

A last morning on the sand before an evening flight, or extend a night and add the Links course or a second loop of your favourite.

The east coast clusters Anahita and Ile aux Cerfs within minutes; Heritage at Bel Ombre in the southwest is around an hour and a quarter from the east coast, so many groups split their stay across both ends of the island.

Best time to book

The golf season runs through the cooler dry months from May to November, with the best balance of warm days, low humidity and settled weather from June to September. The hotter, more humid summer from December to April brings a cyclone risk between January and March, so it suits beach more than golf. Book peak resorts and the marquee tee times at Heritage two to three months ahead, and earlier still for the European school holiday peaks in July and August.

Mauritius golf questions

When is the best time for a golf holiday in Mauritius?

The cooler dry season from May to November is the prime window, with comfortable temperatures, low humidity and settled days. The hotter summer from December to April carries a cyclone risk between January and March, so most golf groups travel between May and October.

How many rounds should I plan in a week?

Most groups play four to five rounds over seven nights, leaving time for the beach and the lagoon. The east coast clusters Anahita and Ile aux Cerfs, while Heritage sits in the southwest, so a split or central base keeps drives manageable.

What does it cost to play Heritage Le Chateau?

Heritage Le Chateau is the premier round. Indicative 2026 green fees run from around €120 to €180 depending on season, with resort guests at Bel Ombre playing at a reduced rate. Confirm directly before booking.

Can you arrange resort, transfers and tee times together?

Yes. Submit a brief and one concierge costs the whole trip to the head, then routes it to a vetted operator. You book once and just play.
