Hawaii Golf Holidays

Cliffside par 3s over the Pacific, lava field fairways and the most dramatic resort golf in America, spread across Maui, the Big Island and Kauai. A bucket list trip that pairs world class courses with the finest resorts in the islands, costed to the head.

Who this trip suits

Hawaii suits the golfer chasing scenery and resort polish over raw difficulty, and couples and small groups who want the round to be one part of a wider island holiday. The courses are spectacular and immaculate, the conditioning faultless, and the off course life, beaches, snorkeling and volcanoes, is as good as the golf.

It rewards travelers happy to island hop, since the marquee courses sit on different islands, Kapalua and Wailea on Maui, Mauna Kea on the Big Island, Makai on Kauai. A short inter island flight links them. We build the route, the resorts and the tee times so the logistics never get in the way of the views.

The golf

The courses to build it around

Our pick of the rounds worth structuring a trip around. Read the full ranking in the 100 greatest courses you can play.

  1. 1

    Kapalua Plantation Course

    Maui

The first Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw collaboration, opened in 1991, a par 73 of vast scale that cascades down the West Maui mountains to the sea. Host of the PGA Tour's season opening Sentry since 1999 and routinely rated the best course in the state. Indicative 2026 green fees run around 475 USD, so always confirm directly before booking.

  2. 2

    Mauna Kea Golf Course

    Big Island

A 1964 Robert Trent Jones Sr. masterpiece carved into black lava on the Kohala Coast, famous for the over the ocean par three third. A historic, demanding round and one of the great resort courses anywhere. Indicative 2026 green fees run upward of 300 USD.

  3. 3

    Wailea Golf Club

    Maui

Three courses above the South Maui coast, the Gold and Emerald by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and the Blue, with sweeping ocean and Molokini views from a resort built for golf. The Gold is the championship test of the trio.

  4. 4

    Princeville Makai

    Kauai

A Robert Trent Jones Jr. design on Kauai's lush north shore, with cliffside holes above Hanalei Bay and some of the most photographed scenery in golf. The Garden Isle round to anchor a Kauai leg.

  5. 5

    Mauna Lani, South Course

    Big Island

Lava framed resort golf on the Kohala Coast with the celebrated oceanside fifteenth, an ideal pairing with Mauna Kea for a Big Island base of two contrasting rounds.

  6. 6

    Kapalua Bay Course

    Maui

The Plantation's gentler, more scenic sibling, with the famous fifth playing across a cove of the Pacific. A relaxed, beautiful round to balance the brawn of the Plantation.

Good to know

Frequently asked

When is the best time for a Hawaii golf holiday?

Hawaii plays year round thanks to its mild, steady climate. The high season runs December to April with the finest weather and the highest prices, while the shoulder months from May to early summer and September to November offer better value and lighter tee sheets with golf just as good.

Do you need to island hop to play the best courses?

To play the very best, yes. Kapalua and Wailea are on Maui, Mauna Kea and Mauna Lani on the Big Island, and Princeville Makai on Kauai. A short inter island flight links them, and many groups pair two islands in a week. We handle the routing so the travel is seamless.

How much does a golf trip to Hawaii cost?

As a guide, expect indicative 2026 prices from around 2,800 USD per head for a single island value week up to 7,000 USD and beyond for a luxury multi island trip with marquee rounds and five star resorts. Resort golf here is premium. Prices move with the season, so always confirm directly before booking.

Can visitors play Kapalua Plantation and Mauna Kea?

Yes. Both are resort courses open to visitors, with the best rates and tee times for resort guests, which is how we usually base a trip. We secure the times in advance, since the marquee rounds book up well ahead in high season.

How many rounds should we plan?

Most groups play three to four rounds across five to seven nights, leaving plenty of room for beaches, snorkeling and the islands themselves. The scenery rewards a slower pace, so we rarely recommend golf every single day.
