Harbour Town Golf Links, Hilton Head, fairway toward the red and white lighthouse
South Carolina · Hilton Head Island

Hilton Head Golf Holidays

Pete Dye's tree lined Harbour Town, oceanfront holes at Palmetto Dunes and two dozen courses on one Lowcountry island. The complete American buddies trip.

Who this trip suits

Hilton Head is the easiest world class golf trip to organize in the United States. Everything is on one flat, walkable island shaded by live oaks, the courses suit every standard, and a villa for the group is never far from the first tee.

  • Buddies groups who want a Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus bucket list round at Harbour Town without leaving the country.
  • Mixed ability groups, since Palmetto Dunes and the resort courses are generous and fun before they are fierce.
  • Couples and families who want golf, beach, bikes and Lowcountry dining within ten minutes of each other.
  • Anyone who wants a spring or autumn week with no jet lag and short hops from the East Coast.

The courses to build around

Harbour Town Golf Links, Hilton Head, 18th hole by the lighthouse

Harbour Town Golf Links

Pete Dye with Jack Nicklaus · Par 71 · Sea Pines

The island's icon, a 7,213 yard test of accuracy with tiny greens and the famous lighthouse 18th. Host of the PGA Tour's RBC Heritage and freshly restored for 2026.

Atlantic Dunes by Davis Love III, Sea Pines, Hilton Head

Atlantic Dunes

Davis Love III · Par 72 · Sea Pines

A full 2016 redesign of the old Ocean Course, rerouted through restored dunes and maritime forest. The most modern resort round on the island.

Heron Point

Pete Dye · Par 72 · Sea Pines

A second Sea Pines Dye design, waste bunkers and water throughout, widely rated the best value premium round on Hilton Head.

RTJ Oceanfront

Robert Trent Jones · Par 72 · Palmetto Dunes

Home to the only oceanfront golf shot on the island, the par 5 10th along the Atlantic. Five tees make it a friendly, scenic round for the whole group.

Arthur Hills

Arthur Hills · Par 72 · Palmetto Dunes

Rolling dune corridors and lagoon carries, a college tournament host that rewards a tidy short game over raw length.

May River

Jack Nicklaus · Par 72 · Palmetto Bluff

A short drive inland at Bluffton, a polished Nicklaus design through ancient oaks and along the river. The splurge round of the trip.

A sample structure

One way to shape a week from a Sea Pines or Palmetto Dunes villa. We tune the order to your tee times, base and handicaps, never the other way around.

Days 1 to 2

Arrive into Savannah or Hilton Head and settle into the villa. A gentle opener at the RTJ Oceanfront for the par 5 10th, then Arthur Hills the next morning to warm up the group.

Day 3

The marquee round at Harbour Town, every yard of the lighthouse finish. Lunch in Harbour Town marina afterward and a slow afternoon.

Day 4

Heron Point or Atlantic Dunes, then bikes on the beach or a boat out for dolphins before a Lowcountry dinner.

Days 5 to 7

A short trip inland to May River at Palmetto Bluff for the splurge round, then free days to split between golf, beach and the table before flying home.

Best time to go and to book

The prime seasons are March to May and September to November, when the days are warm, the turf is firm and the live oaks give welcome shade. April brings the RBC Heritage, so courses and villas book out early and rates peak across the island. Summer is hot and humid with reliable afternoon thunderstorms, which keeps prices and crowds lower if you tee off early. Winter is mild and the best value of all, ideal for a group that does not mind a cool morning. Book Harbour Town six to eight weeks ahead in spring, and lock villas earlier still for Heritage week.
