Why play golf in Sardinia
Sardinia is a boutique golf destination, and that is exactly the appeal. The island offers a small, high quality set of courses set against granite headlands, fragrant maquis and some of the clearest water in the Mediterranean, wrapped in the glamour of the Costa Smeralda and the simpler pleasures of the south. It suits the traveler who wants two or three memorable rounds across a week of beaches, harbors and superb Sardinian food, not a course a day.
The golf splits north and south. In the northeast, the Costa Smeralda around Porto Cervo holds the island's marquee course, Pevero, minutes from the yachts and beach clubs of one of Europe's most famous coastlines. In the south, near Cagliari, Villasimius and the central west coast, a cluster of championship courses offers warmer winters and better value. The courses to build a trip around
Pevero Golf Club, Costa Smeralda
The jewel of Sardinian golf and one of Robert Trent Jones Senior's most admired coastal designs, opened in 1972 between the bays of Pevero and Cala di Volpe near Porto Cervo. A par 72 routed through granite, myrtle and juniper with the sea in view from much of the round, it is a genuine bucket list course and the anchor of any northern trip.
Is Molas Golf Club, Santa Margherita di Pula
The veteran of the south, a 1970s Robert Trent Jones Senior and Piero Mancinelli layout about 30 kilometers from Cagliari that has long hosted the Italian Open. A mature, tree lined championship course at a resort with its own hotel, it is the natural base for golf in the south of the island.
Tanka Golf Club, Villasimius
An 18 hole course on the southeast coast near the beach resort of Villasimius, about 45 minutes from Cagliari, set among Mediterranean scrub close to some of Sardinia's finest beaches. A relaxed, scenic round that pairs naturally with a southern beach base.
Is Arenas Golf, central west coast
A striking 18 hole layout set inside a vast coastal pine forest near Narbolia on the quieter west coast, facing the sea. Peaceful and natural, it is the round to add for golfers exploring beyond the two main clusters.

Costs, getting there and where to stay
Beyond the green fees in the table, budget for a buggy in the summer heat and factor in the Costa Smeralda's premium prices for lodging and dining in the north. See our Italy green fees guide for the wider picture on costs.
Sardinia has three main airports: Olbia in the northeast for the Costa Smeralda and Pevero, Cagliari in the south for Is Molas and Tanka, and Alghero in the northwest. The island is large, so most golf trips base in one region rather than crossing it; a hire car is essential for reaching the courses and beaches.
For a golf focused stay, base around Porto Cervo and the Costa Smeralda for Pevero and the glamour of the north, or near Pula and Cagliari in the south for Is Molas, Tanka and warmer shoulder season golf. We can pair the right hotels with prebooked tee times across the island.
Plan a Sardinia golf trip
We secure the tee times at Pevero and across the island, pair them with the right resorts and build Sardinia's beaches, harbors and food around the golf. Tell us roughly when and who is traveling and one concierge costs it to the head, with no obligation.
Golf in Sardinia questions
How many golf courses are there in Sardinia?
Sardinia has a handful of full 18 hole championship courses worth traveling for, led by Pevero on the Costa Smeralda in the north, with Is Molas and Tanka in the south near Cagliari and Villasimius, and Is Arenas on the central west coast. The island is a boutique golf destination rather than a high volume one, which is much of its appeal.
How much does golf cost in Sardinia?
Indicative 2026 green fees at the flagship Pevero run from about 70 EUR in winter to roughly 120 EUR in the July and August peak, with the southern courses similar or a little lower. Buggies and the high summer rates add to the cost. Fees move with the season, so always confirm directly before booking.
When is the best time to golf in Sardinia?
Spring and autumn, roughly April to June and September to October, are the prime golf windows, with warm, settled weather and the courses in good order. High summer is hot and busy with the Costa Smeralda crowd, so book early tee times, while winter is mild and quiet with the best value. Always confirm conditions before traveling.
Is Sardinia good for a golf trip?
Sardinia suits the golfer who wants a few memorable rounds wrapped in spectacular coast, glamorous resorts and superb food rather than a course a day. Pevero on the Costa Smeralda is a genuine bucket list round, and pairing it with the beaches and harbors of Porto Cervo makes an outstanding couples or mixed group trip.
