Why golf here

Robert Trent Jones II set out to build a championship linksland resort course above Sanya's most famous bay, and since opening in 2000 it has sat among the top courses in China. It now hosts a PGA of America learning and performance center, a marker of how seriously Sanya takes its golf. The classic south island round.
Mission Hills Haikou · Lava Fields
The second course to play at Haikou, picking its way through the same black volcanic rockscape as Blackstone with a touch less length and a lower fee. The lava framing makes it one of the most photogenic rounds in China.

Two international airports serve the island, Haikou Meilan in the north and Sanya Phoenix in the south, with dense connections through the major Chinese hubs and a growing list of direct regional routes.
