The Best Stay and Play Golf Resorts in Thailand

World class courses, year round warmth, caddies on every bag and value that no Western resort can touch. From the Hua Hin hills to the lagoons of Phuket, here are the Thai resorts where you can stay on site and play some of Asia's best golf. Our six, ranked, with verdicts and how to play them.

How we picked them

Thailand is the most rewarding value golf trip in the world. The courses are immaculate, the caddies are excellent, and a green fee plus a buggy and a caddie costs a fraction of an equivalent round in Europe or the States. For this list we wanted resorts where you can genuinely stay on site or within a few minutes of the first tee, so we weighed the quality of the golf first, then the standard of the lodging and the overall trip the resort makes for a group or a couple. We checked every designer, opening date and championship at the time of writing.

Green fees and resort rates in Thailand swing with the season, peaking in the cool dry months from November to February, and the monsoon hits the Andaman coast harder than the gulf. Treat any figure as a guide and always confirm directly before booking. The verdicts are ours. If you want any of these built into a costed itinerary, with tee times and caddies arranged, that is exactly what our concierge does.

The ranking

  1. 1

Black Mountain Golf Resort, Hua Hin

Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan27 holes · on site villas

Our number one and, for years, the most awarded course in the country. Phil Ryan designed the 27 holes through a former pineapple and mango plantation in the hills behind Hua Hin, with bold contours, a creek in play and superb conditioning that has drawn Asian Tour and European Tour events. On site villas and condominiums, a spa and a family water park make it a true stay and play. The best single golf resort in Thailand, and the obvious anchor for a Hua Hin trip.

  2. 2

    Banyan Golf Club, Hua Hin

Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri KhanParkland · resort residences

A short drive from Black Mountain, Banyan, now also known as Pineapple Valley, is the other half of Hua Hin's headline pairing. Designed by leading Thai architect Pirapon Namatra and opened in 2008, it runs from open plantation land up into the hills for a dramatic, photogenic back nine with mountain views. With its own residences and an excellent clubhouse restaurant, it is a comfortable base and the natural companion round to Black Mountain on any Hua Hin itinerary.

  3. 3

    Blue Canyon Country Club, Phuket

    PhuketTwo courses · Canyon Cottages

Phuket's most famous golf, and a course with real tournament history. Yoshikazu Kato laid out the Canyon Course in 1991, and it hosted the Johnnie Walker Classic three times, including the 1998 edition won by Tiger Woods. The sister Lakes Course adds a second 18. With its own Canyon Cottages on the property and the beaches and resorts of Phuket close by, Blue Canyon suits players who want a serious test of golf wrapped inside a beach holiday.

  4. 4

    Laguna Golf Phuket

Bang Tao, PhuketParkland · integrated resort

The golf at the heart of Laguna Phuket, Asia's original fully integrated destination resort, with a cluster of Banyan Tree, Angsana and other hotels around the lagoons. Paul Jansen completed an eighteen month redesign in 2015, reopening a par 71 that winds through coconut groves, water and tropical planting, with sand areas cut by more than half. For families and mixed groups who want hotels, beach and golf in one walkable resort, it is the easiest stay and play in Phuket.

  5. 5

    Santiburi Samui, Koh Samui

Mae Nam, Koh SamuiIsland course · beach resort

The only golf on Koh Samui, and a spectacular one, climbing into the jungled hills behind Mae Nam beach with huge elevation change, ocean panoramas and several genuinely dramatic holes. Paired with the Santiburi Beach Resort and Spa down on the sand, it is a one of a kind island stay and play. Not a tournament course, but for a couple combining a Samui beach holiday with a memorable round, nothing else in Thailand looks quite like it.

  6. 6

    Springfield Royal Country Club, Cha-am

    Cha-am, Petchaburi27 holes · Nicklaus design

Just north of Hua Hin at Cha-am, Springfield is a 27 hole Jack Nicklaus design and one of the best conditioned layouts in the region, with the Mountain and Lake nines forming the premier eighteen. The attached Springfield Beach Resort puts a stay right by the sea, and the location slots neatly into a wider Hua Hin and Cha-am golf week. A reliable, well run Nicklaus resort that rounds out the gulf coast cluster.

Designers, dates and host history verified June 2026. Hua Hin and Cha-am cluster tightly on the gulf; Phuket and Koh Samui are beach destinations a flight away with a wetter monsoon. Green fees move with the season, so always confirm access and fees directly before booking.
