It has co hosted the Mauritius Open and is a polished, strategic championship round set in a luxury resort estate, which makes it an ideal east coast base for a society. Pair it with the island golf next door and you have two of the finest rounds in the Indian Ocean from one stay.
The most spectacular round in Mauritius and the one your society will talk about for years. Bernhard Langer routed this course across its own island off the east coast, reached only by a golf boat shuttle, the holes carved through tropical forest and skirting turquoise lagoons. It is dramatic, exotic and unforgettable, the definition of a bucket list golf experience, and it pairs naturally with Anahita for an east coast trip.
The island's newest course, opened in late 2023 in the hills above the Heritage estate at Bel Ombre, a links inspired layout that climbs into the highlands with sweeping views back to the sea. Reserved for Heritage resort guests and members, it gives a society staying on the south coast a second, very different round to pair with Le Chateau. Bold, modern and high on the lists already, it makes Bel Ombre a true two course base.
On the sunnier, drier west coast near Tamarin, this Rodney Wright design is a par 72 championship course set beneath the dramatic Montagne du Rempart, the holes running between the mountains and the sea. It is scenic, generous and a fine round for a mixed group, and it anchors a west coast base with the beaches and dolphin bays of Tamarin and the Le Morne peninsula nearby. A relaxed, beautiful day out.
A flat, walkable resort course on the Le Morne peninsula in the southwest, wrapped around the lagoon beneath the UNESCO listed Le Morne Brabant mountain, one of the most beautiful settings in Mauritius. It is gentle and enjoyable rather than a brutal test, exactly right for a society that wants its golf as part of a beach holiday, and the Beachcomber resort makes a comfortable base for the party.
The standout course in the north, a modern eighteen set among sugar cane and lakes a short drive from the lively resort town of Grand Baie. For pure spectacle, Bernhard Langer's Ile aux Cerfs, reached by boat shuttle to its own island, is the most memorable round on the island.
