Thailand Golf in the Green Season
The monsoon months scare golfers off, and that is the opportunity. Tee off early, pick the right region, and Thailand's green season delivers lush courses and fees down 40 to 50 percent.

Why the green season works
Thailand's green season runs roughly May to October, the southwest monsoon months. The name scares off enough golfers to do the rest a favor, because the reality is kinder than it sounds. Across much of the country the rain arrives as short, heavy afternoon storms, not all day drizzle, so a 7am tee time usually buys three or four hours of dry, lush golf before the sky builds. Fairways run green, courses are quiet, and prices fall hard.
This is a value play, not a weather gamble you take blind. Tee off early, base yourself in the right region, and the green season delivers some of the best golf value in Asia. Our verdict on where to go follows; for the headline layouts, see the best golf courses in Thailand.
Where to play, ranked for the green season
Hua Hin
The most reliable green season base. Showers tend to come in short late day bursts, the courses around Black Mountain and Banyan are first rate, and the beach town setting is easy. Early tee times here are a safe bet through most of the wet months.
Pattaya
A huge cluster of courses within an easy drive, quick to drain and quick to reopen after a storm. The density means you can always find a morning slot somewhere, which makes Pattaya a dependable green season choice with deep value.
Bangkok
The capital's courses see heavy afternoon thunderstorms rather than constant rain, so morning golf is usually clean. Pair championship layouts with the city's food and nightlife for a golf and culture week at green season prices.
Phuket
The island's championship courses, led by Blue Canyon, are at their cheapest now, but Phuket sees Thailand's heaviest and most sustained monsoon rain, worst from July to September. Best attempted in May, June or late September to October, and only with early tee times and a flexible plan.

Thailand green season golf questions
When is the green season for golf in Thailand?
Roughly May to October, the southwest monsoon period. Despite the name, much of the country sees short, heavy afternoon storms rather than all day rain, so morning golf is usually dry. Green fees fall, often by 40 to 50 percent, and packages get notably cheaper.
Is it worth playing golf in Thailand during the rainy season?
For value, yes, if you tee off early. Mornings are commonly clear and playable, courses are lush and quiet, and rates are at their lowest. The trade off is the risk of an afternoon washout, heaviest in Phuket between July and September.
Which Thailand region is best in the green season?
Bangkok, Hua Hin and Pattaya tend to get short bursts of late day rain and make the most reliable green season bases. Phuket sees the heaviest and most sustained rainfall in the wet months, so it is the higher risk choice from July to September.
How much can I save on green fees in the green season?
Most courses cut prices from around April to the end of October, commonly by 40 to 50 percent, and bundle stay and play deals. We never quote our own pricing; always confirm the current green fee and package terms directly before booking.
