The Best Golf Courses in Oman

Oman offers a calmer, more scenic take on Gulf golf, courses set between the Hajar mountains and the Sea of Oman rather than in the desert. The best of them are a short drive from Muscat. Our ranked five, with the verdict on each, the designers and indicative 2026 green fees.

How we ranked them

Oman came to championship golf later than its Gulf neighbours and is the better for it, with a small, high quality cluster of grass courses around Muscat and a landscape of mountain, wadi and coastline that gives the golf real drama. We weight the quality and variety of the holes, the condition and the setting, leaning toward the modern designs that have put Oman on the winter golf map. Al Mouj is the clear headline act, but the capital holds enough to fill a long weekend, and the floodlit courses let you play on into the warm evening.

The ranking

1

Al Mouj Golf

Greg Norman, opened 2012 · Muscat

The best course in Oman and one of the finest in the Gulf, a Greg Norman design that opened in 2012 along the seafront of the Al Mouj marina development in Muscat. Routed in a links style through dunes, salt flats and the Sea of Oman, it has hosted the European Tour Oman Open and pairs a genuine championship test with a floodlit par three course alongside. The obvious centrepiece of any Oman golf trip.

Indicative 2026 green fee around $110 to $150. Always confirm directly before booking.
2

Muscat Hills, La Vie Club

Paul Thomas, opened 2009 · Muscat

Oman's first grass 18 hole course, opened in 2009 to a Paul Thomas design and now trading as the La Vie Club, set in the rugged hills close to the capital. Hillier and more traditional than the coastal links at Al Mouj, with elevation changes and mountain views, it makes a strong contrast on a two or three course Muscat itinerary.

Indicative 2026 green fee around $80 to $110. Always confirm directly before booking.
3

Ras Al Hamra Golf Club

Graham Marsh · Muscat

Oman's first fully floodlit 18 hole course, a par 71 designed by the Australian Graham Marsh on the grounds of the national oil company near Muscat. Playing from around 5,400 to 6,500 yards depending on the tees, it is a mature, well bunkered test with the mountains as a backdrop, and the lights make it a fine choice for an evening round when the day's heat has eased.

Indicative 2026 green fee around $70 to $100. Always confirm directly before booking.
4

Ghala Golf Club

Mountain parkland · Muscat

One of the oldest clubs in the country, Ghala began life in the 1970s as a sand course and now plays as a grass 18 hole layout in the foothills on the edge of Muscat. Tight and quirky, framed by bare rock and the Hajar foothills, it has a friendly, club feel and is an easy, characterful round close to the city centre.

Indicative 2026 green fee around $60 to $90. Always confirm directly before booking.
5

Jebel Sifah Golf

Peter Harradine · Jebel Sifah, near Muscat

A scenic nine hole par 36 designed by Peter Harradine at the Jebel Sifah marina resort, about forty five minutes southeast of Muscat where the mountains meet the sea. Short but beautifully set among the wadis and the coastline, it is the natural add for travellers basing a relaxed few days at the resort and wanting golf with a view rather than a marathon.

Indicative 2026 green fee around $60 to $85. Always confirm directly before booking.
