The Best Golf Courses on the Andalusia Coast
From Sotogrande through Marbella, the Andalusia coast holds the densest run of great courses in Spain, the so called Costa del Golf. A Ryder Cup venue, two Robert Trent Jones classics and a clutch of modern championship layouts sit within a short drive of one another. These are the six we would build an Andalusian golf trip around.

How we chose
The Andalusia coast is the heartland of golf in southern Spain. From the cork oak hills of Sotogrande to the smart resort valleys of Marbella, the courses are immaculate, the climate is kind, and the standouts cluster close enough that a group can play a different great course each day. Our ranking rewards genuine design pedigree and conditioning above all, led by the Ryder Cup venue that sets the standard and rounded out by the championship layouts that make this stretch of coast a bucket list golf destination.
We weighed architecture and tournament history, conditioning, the strength of the wider experience and how readily a visiting golfer can get on. Sotogrande and the Marbella golf valley dominate the list, with Finca Cortesin to the west, all within an hour or so of one another along the coast. Designers and tournament history were verified at the time of writing; green fees vary by season and are at the premium end of Spanish golf, so always confirm directly before booking.

The ranking
1. Real Club Valderrama
The finest course on the coast and one of the best in continental Europe. Robert Trent Jones Senior reworked the Sotogrande New Course into Valderrama, a fearsomely strategic test framed by ancient cork oaks, where precision matters far more than power. It hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup and staged the Volvo Masters for years, and the famous par 5 17th still terrifies the world's best. The benchmark round of any Andalusian trip.
2. Finca Cortesin Golf Club
The most luxurious golf experience in southern Spain. Cabell Robinson's expansive championship course at Finca Cortesin, west of Marbella toward Casares, hosted the 2023 Solheim Cup and ranks among Europe's best, with broad fairways, dramatic contours and immaculate, fast greens. Backed by a five star hotel and resort, it is a polished, big scale round and a fitting modern rival to the Sotogrande classics.
3. Real Club de Golf Sotogrande
The course that started it all on this coast. Robert Trent Jones Senior's first design in Europe, opened in 1964, Real Sotogrande is a serene, beautifully matured layout of umbrella pines, cork oaks and water that many purists rate the most complete on the Costa del Sol. A private members' club of real pedigree, it is the round to seek out for classic, understated championship golf.
4. La Reserva Club
The modern jewel of Sotogrande, set in the hills above the resort. Cabell Robinson gave La Reserva width off the tee and bold, large greens, with strategic water and sweeping views toward the Mediterranean. Immaculately kept and part of a wider beach and lifestyle club, it is a polished, enjoyable championship course that pairs naturally with Valderrama on a high end Sotogrande itinerary.
5. Real Club de Golf Las Brisas
The jewel of the Marbella golf valley. Another Robert Trent Jones Senior design, Las Brisas is a classic championship parkland of water hazards, raised greens and dramatic bunkering that has hosted the Spanish Open and World Cup. Demanding and beautifully presented in the heart of Nueva Andalucia, it is the marquee round around Marbella and the equal of the Sotogrande names for sheer design quality.
6. Los Naranjos Golf Club
The other Robert Trent Jones gem of the Marbella valley, named for the orange groves it was carved through. Los Naranjos is a generous, rolling championship course of two distinct nines, the front more open and the back tighter and more wooded, that has hosted European Tour events and remains a firm favourite of visiting groups. A high quality, enjoyable round that completes a Marbella golf week.

Package guide. This is the premium end of Spanish golf. Indicative 2026 high season green fees at the marquee courses run from roughly 150 euros to 500 euros or more at the very top, with the resort courses a little lower. A four to six night trip with several rounds, a good hotel and transfers commonly runs from around 2,000 to 5,000 euros per golfer, before flights, depending on the courses and hotel tier.
