Whistler vs Predator Ridge: Which Golf Trip Wins?
For 2026 the answer is unusually clear. Predator Ridge gives you 36 holes on one property from C$300 daily and C$250 as a resort guest, in the driest, sunniest golf pocket in Canada. Whistler counters with alpine theater and Nicklaus North at C$285, but its third course, the Arnold Palmer designed Whistler Golf Club, is closed all year for renovation. Golf first, go Okanagan. Resort first, go Whistler.

The verdict, up front
These are British Columbia's two flagship golf stays, four hours apart and built on opposite promises. Predator Ridge, in the hills above Vernon at the north end of the Okanagan Valley, is a purpose built golf resort: the Predator course, Les Furber's rumpled, twice host of the World Skins Game original, and the Ridge course, Doug Carrick's 2010 routing that tumbles toward Lake Okanagan, share one clubhouse, one pro shop and one published 2026 card. Whistler is a world resort that happens to hold serious golf: Nicklaus North on the shore of Green Lake, one of the few courses Jack Nicklaus put his own name on, and the Robert Trent Jones Jr course at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler climbing the flank of Blackcomb.
The 2026 wrinkle settles most arguments. Whistler Golf Club, the Arnold Palmer design in the village, is closed for renovation for the entire 2026 season and is not scheduled to reopen until early summer 2027, which thins the rotation to two championship courses plus Big Sky up the road in Pemberton. Predator Ridge meanwhile plays April 8 to late October, a season Whistler's altitude cannot match, with roughly 2,000 hours of Okanagan sunshine and wine country twenty minutes away. Our verdict: for a pure golf week in 2026, Predator Ridge wins on volume, weather and value. For a couples or family trip where golf shares the bill with the mountains, Whistler remains the bigger stage.
Head to head
| Factor | Whistler | Predator Ridge |

| Getting there | 2 hours from Vancouver up the Sea to Sky Highway | 30 minutes from Kelowna International, 4.5 hours from Vancouver |
| Off the course | The biggest resort village in North America: peak gondola, biking, spas, serious restaurants | Okanagan wine touring, lake days, hiking and pickleball; quieter evenings, resort dining |

Who should pick which
Pick Predator Ridge if golf is the trip
The math favors Vernon. A resort guest plays prime season golf at C$250, adds an advance booked replay at C$150, and never moves the car between rounds. Stay four nights and a 36 hole day costs less than two single rounds in Whistler once the mandatory cart at the Chateau is counted. The Predator course brings the length and the long native grasses, the Ridge brings the lake views and the drama, and the Sparkling Hill wellness hotel next door gives the non golfer a reason to encourage the whole idea. May and late September, when the card drops to C$255 and below, are the sweet spots. The wider valley, from Kelowna's Gallagher's Canyon to the desert courses near Osoyoos, is mapped in our British Columbia destination guide.
Pick Whistler if the trip is bigger than golf
No Okanagan evening matches walking out of Araxi into a village square under two mountains. Whistler in 2026 is a two course golf stop, and an excellent one: Nicklaus North is flat, walkable, glacier framed and genuinely fun at C$285 peak, and the Chateau Whistler course is the most dramatic parkland ride in western Canada, 400 feet of elevation change off Blackcomb. Book the golf as mornings and give the afternoons to the gondola. Compare the bigger BC question against Alberta in our Arizona vs Nevada style framework, see how a US desert alternative prices in the 7 day Arizona itinerary, and let our recommended Whistler stays handle the village nights. Either way, the Canada golf holidays page costs the full week.
