County Kerry Golf Holidays

Kerry is the densest concentration of world class links on earth: Ballybunion's heaving dunes, Arnold Palmer's first European design at Tralee, Waterville at the end of the Ring, and honest value at Dooks and Dingle in between. This page is the working plan, who the trip suits, the courses to build around, a six night structure, what it costs at 2026 rates and when to book, with the enquiry form at the end if you would rather we built it for you.

Who this trip suits

The Kerry week is the bucket list buddies trip, the one a four ball or eight ball plans a year out and talks about for ten. It suits golfers who want the full Irish links argument, wind, blind shots, dunes the size of hotels, delivered by courses with real pedigree, and who accept the two honest costs of entry: marquee green fees that now reach 450 euros at Ballybunion and Tralee in high season 2026, and weather that plays its own hand in any month. Couples and mixed groups do well here too, because Killarney's lakes, the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle Peninsula give non golfers the best day trips in Ireland while the links work is done.

It is not the right page for golfers wanting one base and no driving, Kerry rewards a two stop routing, or for anyone needing guaranteed sunshine. If the budget is the constraint, the same county still works: Dooks at about 120 euros in summer and Dingle's Ceann Sibeal deliver true links for a fraction of the headline fees. A 6 night structure that works

N 1Arrive

Shannon to Ballybunion country

About 1h30 from Shannon · base: Ballybunion or Listowel

Land at Shannon, collect the van or meet the driver guide, and run south about an hour and a half to Ballybunion. Legs stretch on the Cashen course if the flight landed early; otherwise the cliff walk and a first pint set the tone.

N 2Marquee 1

Ballybunion Old Course

450 euros high season 2026 · the round of the trip for many

The Old Course day. From the graveyard opener to the duneland holes along the Atlantic, this is Irish links golf at full volume. The August to October two round offer at 575 euros makes the Cashen a smart same trip addition for autumn groups.

N 3Marquee 2

Tralee, then south to Killarney

About 1h from Ballybunion · 450 euros high season · base moves to Killarney

Palmer's Barrow peninsula links, where the front nine plays the warm up act and the back nine, hung over beach and cliff, delivers the photographs. Drive on to Killarney after the round; the town carries the best hotel, restaurant and music depth in the county and holds the base for the rest of the week.

N 4Breather

Dooks or Killeen, and the county's other riches

120 to 130 euros · the value day

A gentler day that most groups rate among their favorites: Dooks' natural links on Dingle Bay at 120 euros, or Killarney's lakeside Killeen at about 130, with the afternoon for the Gap of Dunloe, the lakes or simply the town. Non golfers get their full Kerry day here.

N 5Marquee 3

Waterville, around the Ring

About 1h45 from Killarney · about 300 euros

The Ring of Kerry drive delivers you to the most remote of the great Irish links. Waterville's back nine through the big dunes justifies every kilometer. Groups with flexible legs stay the night in the village; everyone else loops back to Killarney with the Ring completed.

N 6Finale

Dingle day, fly home from Kerry or Cork

Ceann Sibeal plus Slea Head · depart day 7

Finish west: Ceann Sibeal's links under Mount Brandon, the Slea Head drive, and a last night in Dingle town's pubs. Kerry Airport at Farranfore is 30 minutes from Killarney for the morning departure, with Cork the alternative for direct European connections.

The money math at 2026 published rates: the three marquee rounds total about 1,200 euros, the two value rounds add roughly 250, and hotels, van and food carry most groups to between 2,000 and 4,000 euros per head for the week depending on hotel grade and round count. Third party operator packages for southwest Ireland weeks track the same range with transport and some dinners folded in, always quoted per person for the season and year, and always worth confirming directly before booking.

County Kerry trip questions

How much does a County Kerry golf trip cost?

Green fees are the headline number. At published 2026 rates the big three alone run about 1,200 euros: Ballybunion's Old Course at 400 euros mid season and 450 in high season, Tralee from 250 euros early in April rising to 450 in high season, and Waterville around 300 euros. Add value rounds at Dooks, about 120 euros in summer, and Killarney's Killeen at about 130, then hotels, a car and food on top. Most groups land between 2,000 and 4,000 euros per head for five or six nights depending on hotels and round count. All fees are indicative; always confirm directly before booking.

When should you book Ballybunion, Tralee and Waterville?

Eight to twelve months out for May to September tee times, and earlier for larger groups. Kerry's marquee links sell their visitor windows well ahead, with Ballybunion's high season running 1 May to 2 October in 2026 and Tralee's high season from mid April. Shoulder dates in April and October book closer in and cost meaningfully less, such as Ballybunion at 400 euros in its mid April window and Tralee from 250 euros at the very start of April.

What is the best time of year for golf in County Kerry?

May, June and September are the sweet spot: the longest playable days, the links in full running condition, and tee sheets slightly softer than July and August when American group traffic peaks. April and October trade some weather certainty for real savings on the marquee fees. Kerry golf is wind and showers in any month; pack for four seasons and the links will give you at least three of them.

Which airport is best for a Kerry golf holiday?

Kerry Airport at Farranfore is the closest, about 30 minutes from Killarney and under an hour from Tralee, with connections through Dublin and select UK hubs. Shannon is the long haul workhorse, roughly an hour and a half from Ballybunion and the natural arrival for US groups, and Cork serves the southern approach. Many trips land at Shannon, play Ballybunion first and exit through Kerry or Cork; a rental car or driver guide is essential either way.
