4 Day Tuscany Golf Itinerary
The efficient four day version of Tuscany golf: fly into Pisa, run the region north to south, and finish on the Maremma coast at Argentario, the David Mezzacane and Baldovino Dassu course that staged the 2025 Italian Open. Cosmopolitan eases you in by the Pisan coast, Poggio dei Medici takes the Mugello, La Bagnaia covers Siena, and every round books direct at 65 to 170 euros in 2026. Here is the day by day, with drive times and the honest case for May or the harvest weeks.

Who this trip suits
This is the Tuscany trip for golfers with four days, a rental car and a wish to pair real golf with the food, the wine and the hill towns rather than rack up 36 holes a day. Tuscany is not a single resort destination; the good courses sit 45 to 90 minutes apart, so the itinerary is built as a north to south run that never doubles back: in at Pisa, out from the Maremma, with each night closer to the coast. It suits a couple splitting golf with Florence and Siena, a buddies four ball who want quality over quantity, and anyone curious why the region's golf has quietly climbed since Argentario took the 2025 Italian Open.
It is not the trip for a links pilgrim or someone chasing the very top of Italian golf, which still belongs to the north and to Rome's Ryder Cup host Marco Simone. Here the brief is a beautiful, well sequenced four days. If you have a fifth day, or want the private gate at Castiglion del Bosco, step up to our five day Tuscany itinerary; for the island alternative, our three day Sardinia itinerary trades the hills for the Costa Smeralda. Access and booking on each course is covered in full in our how to play golf in Tuscany guide.
The 4 day plan
Land at Pisa, warm up at Cosmopolitan
Pisa Galileo Galilei airport is the easy gateway, and Cosmopolitan Golf and Beach Resort sits at Tirrenia barely fifteen minutes away on the Tyrrhenian coast, a David Mezzacane design from 1992 among the umbrella pines. It is the gentle opener: flat, walkable, open year round, and a fine first round to find the legs after a flight. Indicative 2026 fees run roughly 65 to 90 euros. Drop the clubs, then drive east toward Florence or up into Chianti for the first night, dinner with a Chianti Classico to set the tone.
Poggio dei Medici, north of Florence
Drive up into the Mugello to Poggio dei Medici at Scarperia, the Alvise Rossi Fioravanti and Baldovino Dassu course that hosted the Ladies Italian Open from 1999 to 2003, a rolling parkland layout in the green hills north of Florence. It asks for a valid handicap certificate, so carry one. Indicative 2026 fees sit around 70 euros midweek and 90 at weekends. With the round done by early afternoon there is time for Florence itself, the Duomo and an evening in the city before the drive south toward Siena.
Royal Golf La Bagnaia, near Siena
South to the Siena hills and Royal Golf La Bagnaia, the Robert Trent Jones Jr design on the Borgo La Bagnaia estate twenty minutes from the city, a stylish resort course with the cypress lined drama Tuscany is sold on. Indicative 2026 fees run 85 to 140 euros by season, with the super peak early September to mid October. Play in the morning, then take the afternoon for Siena, the Piazza del Campo and a slow evening in the old town. This is the night to consider a Montalcino detour for those routing toward the Rosewood at Castiglion del Bosco.
Argentario on the coast, then fly home
The finale. Drive down to the Monte Argentario peninsula on the Maremma coast for Argentario Golf Club, the David Mezzacane and Baldovino Dassu course that opened in 2006, holds PGA National Italy status and staged the 2025 Italian Open on the DP World Tour above the Orbetello lagoon. It is the best round of the week and the one to book first. Official 2026 fees run 120 euros in low season, 160 in regular season and 170 in high season, June to September. Lunch at the resort, then either fly out of Rome Fiumicino, about an hour and three quarters south, or back to Pisa.

When to go and how to run it
Aim for April to June, September or October. Spring and autumn bring the green hills, the harvest light and the walking temperatures Tuscany is famous for, and the clubs price accordingly, with La Bagnaia's super peak from early September to mid October. August is the month to avoid inland, too hot for comfort and better spent near the coast at Argentario or Cosmopolitan where the sea breeze helps; winter golf is possible but damp and quiet. Book Argentario first and build the rest around it, since it is the round the trip is engineered to finish on.
A rental car from Pisa is essential; the drives are part of the pleasure and the courses are not linked by useful public transport. For the stay, split the trip: a Florence or Chianti base for the first two nights, then Siena and a Maremma coast hotel for the finish. If you want the private Weiskopf course at Castiglion del Bosco, book the Rosewood stay and slot it into the Siena leg, or step up to our five day Tuscany itinerary, which adds it along with Il Pelagone and Ugolino. The wider picture lives in our best golf courses in Italy ranking, from Royal Park I Roveri below the Alps to Verdura on Sicily. To have the four days costed and booked as one piece, start from Italy golf holidays, or go up a tier with luxury golf tours of Italy.
Plan your 4 day Tuscany trip
Tell us roughly when and who is travelling, and one concierge sequences the rounds, holds Argentario on the right days, books the Florence, Siena and Maremma stays, arranges the car and costs the four days to the head. May and the harvest weeks go early in Tuscany, so the sooner we start the better, with no obligation.

When is the best time for a Tuscany golf trip?
April to June, September and October. Spring and autumn bring the green hills, harvest light and walking temperatures the region is known for, and the clubs price accordingly, with La Bagnaia's super peak running early September to mid October. August is hot inland and better spent near the coast at Argentario or Cosmopolitan, where the sea breeze helps. Winter golf is possible but damp and quiet.
Can I add Castiglion del Bosco to a 4 day Tuscany trip?
Only by booking a stay. The Club at Castiglion del Bosco, the late Tom Weiskopf's only continental European course, is Italy's only fully private club, reserved for members and resident guests of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco near Montalcino. If the Rosewood is on your list, build a night there into the Siena leg and swap it in for La Bagnaia or add a fifth day; otherwise leave it for our five day Tuscany itinerary. Always confirm access directly before booking.
