The trip in brief

Seven courses sit inside one of the most beautiful zip codes in golf, strung along the cliffs and pines of the Monterey Peninsula. Four days is enough to play the headline acts, Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill, and round out the week with Poppy Hills and a historic public gem or two. With the Links at Spanish Bay closed for a long renovation through 2026, this routing leans on the courses playing in full.

The single decision that shapes the trip is whether to stay on resort. A room at the Lodge or the Inn unlocks the Pebble Beach booking window and waives cart fees; without it, Pebble is hard to reach more than a day out. Either way, the supporting cast is superb. Day by day

1

Spyglass Hill Golf Course · about 525 dollars, 2026

Day 1, Spyglass Hill

Open with the Peninsula's fiercest test, a Robert Trent Jones Sr design where the first five holes tumble through the dunes to the sea before turning into the Del Monte Forest. Book up to three months ahead. Settle into your Monterey or Pebble Beach base for dinner.

2

Pebble Beach Golf Links · about 675 dollars, 2026

Day 2, Pebble Beach

The main event, and a bucket list round for most golfers. The cliffside stretch from the 6th through the 10th and the closing 18th along Carmel Bay are worth the fee and the early alarm. Resort guests get the booking window; play it as the centerpiece of the trip.

3

Poppy Hills Golf Course · Robert Trent Jones Jr

Day 3, Poppy Hills

A walkable, sustainably rebuilt Robert Trent Jones Jr course tucked into the Del Monte Forest, owned by the Northern California Golf Association and friendlier on the wallet than its neighbors. A relaxed round after the big two, with the afternoon free for Carmel or the 17 Mile Drive.

4

Del Monte, Pacific Grove or Bayonet plus Black Horse

Day 4, a Peninsula classic

Finish with history or ocean. Del Monte, opened in 1897, is the oldest course in continuous play west of the Mississippi. Pacific Grove is a charming municipal links above Point Pinos, and Bayonet plus Black Horse offer a sterner test over the bay near Seaside. Pick by mood and tee time.

Monterey Peninsula itinerary questions

How do I get a Pebble Beach tee time?

To book the Pebble Beach Golf Links more than a day ahead you generally must stay at a resort property, the Lodge, the Inn at Spanish Bay or Casa Palmero, with a two night minimum. The 2026 green fee is about 675 dollars to the end of March, then about 695. Always confirm directly before booking.

Is Spanish Bay open in 2026?

The Links at Spanish Bay closes for a major renovation from March 2026 for roughly 13 months, so plan a 2026 trip around Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, Poppy Hills and the Peninsula's other courses instead.

What does Spyglass Hill cost in 2026?

The 2026 green fee at Spyglass Hill is about 525 dollars to the end of March. Resort guests have the cart fee waived; visitors pay an added cart fee. Spyglass can be booked up to three months ahead whether or not you stay on property. Always confirm directly before booking.

Can I play the Peninsula without staying at Pebble Beach?

Yes. Spyglass Hill, Poppy Hills, the historic Del Monte from 1897, Pacific Grove and Bayonet plus Black Horse all take public tee times, so you can build a strong four day trip even without a resort room, though a stay unlocks the prime Pebble Beach windows.
