Manicured, varied and welcoming, it is the ideal first round to find your feet before the cliffs. Base in the south around Nusa Dua or Jimbaran.
New Kuta Golf
The signature round, a Ronald Fream design from 2007 on the Bukit peninsula at Pecatu, with holes running along the limestone cliffs high above the Indian Ocean. Dramatic, exposed and unforgettable, with the surf of Uluwatu just down the road. About thirty minutes from a Nusa Dua base and the photographs of the trip.
Handara Golf and Resort
A full day north into the volcanic highlands around Bedugul to Handara, the oldest course on the island, laid out in a crater ringed by jungle hills and famous for its photogenic gate. Cool, green and a world away from the coast, it is worth the two to two and a half hour drive each way, or an overnight in the mountains. A complete change of golf and climate.
Bukit Pandawa Golf and Country Club
Finish with the cliff edge par 3 course at Bukit Pandawa, a short, spectacular layout perched above the ocean on the southern Bukit, every hole a one shotter with a sea view. A relaxed, fun final round before an afternoon on the beach and the evening flight home. Swap in a free beach day if you would rather.

When to go and where to stay
Play Bali in the dry season from May to September for the lowest humidity and the least rain, though the tropical climate means golf is playable all year; the wet season from November to March brings heavy afternoon downpours, so book morning tee times whenever you travel. Base in the south, where the golf, the beaches and the best resorts cluster: Nusa Dua for polished resort comfort, Jimbaran for the seafood and the bay, or Uluwatu on the Bukit for the cliffs and the surf. Use a private driver rather than self driving, fly into Ngurah Rai airport at Denpasar, and consider an overnight in the Bedugul highlands if you would rather not drive Handara as a long day trip.
