Corales Golf Club
Tom Fazio's cliffside course at Puntacana Resort & Club is the only PGA Tour venue in the Dominican Republic. A par 72 of 7,670 yards with six holes on the Caribbean and a closing stretch known as the Devil's Elbow, Corales is the country's championship test.

The verdict
Corales is where the Dominican Republic meets the PGA Tour. Tom Fazio routed it through the cliffs, coves and inland coralina quarries of Puntacana Resort & Club, opening in 2010, and since 2018 it has hosted the Corales Puntacana Championship, the only regular Tour stop in the country. At 7,670 yards from the tips it is a genuine championship layout, and the players who tackle it each spring confirm how exacting it is.
Six holes play along the ocean, and the round builds to the Devil's Elbow, a closing trio of the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth that runs out along the bays with the wind and the water in play to the last putt. The eighteenth, a drivable carry over an inlet from the back tee, is one of the most dramatic finishing holes in resort golf. Access is more restricted than the public Punta Cana courses, which is part of the appeal.

The holes worth the trip
Fazio uses the whole property, swinging from inland coralina quarry holes to the open coast, and the six oceanside holes are the ones that linger. The wind off the Caribbean shapes every shot along the water, and the firm paspalum greens, including two holes Fazio built with alternate greens that rotate daily, keep even the resort player thinking.
The finish is the calling card. The Devil's Elbow bends the closing holes out along the bays, the seventeenth and eighteenth flirting with the ocean on the right, and the eighteenth tempting the brave to take on a long carry over an inlet to set up the closing birdie. It is a Tour caliber test of nerve and ball flight.
Corales rewards length, precision and the discipline to respect the ocean line. As the country's championship venue it sits at the top of the Punta Cana ladder, and a round here, where access allows, is the prize of a serious golf trip to the region.
