La Cana Golf Club
La Cana is the welcoming face of golf at Puntacana Resort & Club. A P.B. Dye design grown to 27 holes across the Tortuga, Hacienda and Arrecife nines, it offers fourteen holes with ocean views and was the first course in the Caribbean to grow seaside paspalum turf.

The verdict
La Cana is the original golf at Puntacana Resort & Club and still the most approachable. P.B. Dye laid out the first holes and the course has grown to 27 across three nines, the Tortuga, the Hacienda and the Arrecife, the last of which brings the round closest to the sea. Fourteen of the holes carry ocean views, and the whole layout was a pioneer as the first paspalum course in the Caribbean, a turf that thrives on salt air and runs clean and firm.
Where sister course Corales is the championship prize, La Cana is the round the whole group enjoys. It is generous enough for a relaxed day, yet P.B. Dye threads in enough bunkering and water to keep the better player engaged, including a short par 4 ringed by pot bunkers and an island green par 3. For ocean views and easy access in Punta Cana, it is the dependable choice.

Designer, par, holes and turf verified June 2026 from Puntacana Resort & Club and leading course databases. La Cana is a P.B. Dye design of 27 holes across the Tortuga, Hacienda and Arrecife nines, a par 72 playing to roughly 7,150 yards over any two nines, and the first paspalum course in the Caribbean. Indicative 2026 green fees include cart and bottled water, with a caddie fee additional; rates change by season, so always confirm directly before booking.
The holes worth the trip
The three nines give La Cana its variety. The Arrecife nine runs closest to the water and delivers the best of the fourteen ocean view holes, while the Tortuga and Hacienda nines wind through coconut groves and lakes inland. The mix lets you choose the routing, and most visitors aim for the Arrecife stretch for the coastal scenery.
P.B. Dye signs the course with two memorable shorts: a roughly 290 yard par 4 protected by a small army of pot bunkers that tempts the long hitter into trouble, and a 146 yard par 3 to an island green with enough water around it to focus the mind. The paspalum greens are true and the surrounds tightly mown, asking for a deft short game.
La Cana is the round that sends everyone back to the bar smiling. It is playable from the right tees, scenic along the Arrecife holes, and a natural pairing with a round at Corales or one of the Cap Cana courses to round out a Punta Cana golf week.
