The Best Golf for a Corporate Day in Scotland

A corporate or society day in the home of golf needs more than a famous name: it needs courses that flatter mixed handicaps, a fleet of buggies or caddies, real catering and a clubhouse that can host a prize giving. Scotland has the resorts and the links to do all of it, from Gleneagles to the Open coast. Here are the seven venues we rate most highly for a group, ranked.

How we chose them

A great corporate day balances three things: a course special enough to feel like a reward, forgiving enough for a field of mixed abilities, and a venue with the buggies, caddies, catering, function space and rooms to run an event without friction. We weighed championship pedigree against group logistics, and leaned toward venues with the infrastructure and the access to make a day of twelve to forty players easy to organize, while keeping room for one or two trophy links worth the extra effort.

Every host event and design note here was checked at the time of writing, and each venue links to its destination cluster where we have one. The verdicts and the order are ours, shaped by what makes a group day work rather than by raw difficulty or fame. Tell us your numbers and your date and our concierge builds and costs the day, from tee times to the dinner.

The ranking

01

Gleneagles

Three courses, Perthshire · PGA Centenary by Jack Nicklaus · 2014 Ryder Cup

The complete corporate venue and Scotland's first call for a group of any size. Three championship courses, led by the Jack Nicklaus PGA Centenary that hosted the 2014 Ryder Cup and the 2019 Solheim Cup, sit beside a five star hotel, a two Michelin starred restaurant and acres of event and activity space. The King's and Queen's by James Braid give the moorland golf, and the resort runs society days in its sleep. For a day that has to impress, start here.

02

Fairmont St Andrews

Torrance and Kittocks courses · St Andrews · clifftop resort

The strongest base for a group that wants the aura of St Andrews with full resort facilities. The Fairmont's two clifftop courses, the Torrance and the Kittocks, handle large fields, and the hotel can arrange access to the famous town links nearby. With ample function space, accommodation and catering on a single estate, it is built for societies and conferences combining golf with a meeting.

03

Trump Turnberry

Ailsa, restored by Martin Ebert · Ayrshire · Open Championship venue

The prestige round on the list. Turnberry's Ailsa, a four time Open venue restored by Martin Ebert with its lighthouse and clifftop holes, is one of the most spectacular links in the world, paired with a grand resort hotel above the Firth of Clyde. It suits a smaller, golf serious corporate group that wants the trophy round and the five star stay, with the logistics arranged around it.

04

Carnoustie Golf Links

Championship, Burnside and Buddon · Angus · Open Championship venue

For a group that wants a genuine Open links and the room for a big field, Carnoustie is hard to beat. The fearsome Championship course is the headline, but the Burnside and Buddon links let a society spread forty players across the day, with the Carnoustie Golf Hotel beside the 18th for catering and prizes. A real test and a real occasion, with the golf town on the doorstep.

05

Archerfield Links

Fidra and Dirleton courses · East Lothian · near Edinburgh

The smart choice in Scotland's golf coast east of Edinburgh. Archerfield's two modern links, the Fidra and the Dirleton, are run as a dedicated members and events venue, with a fleet of buggies, a clubhouse geared to corporate days and a luxury lodge for stays. Close to Edinburgh airport and surrounded by the great East Lothian links, it makes an easy, polished base for a group day.

06

Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club

East course by James Braid, 1927 · Edinburgh · resort hotel

The classic city corporate venue, minutes from Edinburgh airport. Dalmahoy pairs a James Braid championship East course with a shorter West, a resort hotel, leisure facilities and decades of experience hosting conferences and society days. It is not the most exclusive name here, but for accessibility, capacity and a turnkey golf and meeting day near the capital, it is one of the most practical.

07

The Duke's, St Andrews

Heathland course · St Andrews · Old Course Hotel resort

A relaxed, group friendly alternative in St Andrews, set in the hills above the town. The Duke's is a generous heathland course, easier on mixed handicaps than the championship links, with the Old Course Hotel behind it for rooms, dining and event space. It is the pick when the brief is a premium but enjoyable day in the home of golf rather than a brutal links examination.

Corporate golf in Scotland: questions

What is the best venue for a corporate golf day in Scotland?

Gleneagles in Perthshire is the standout, a five star resort with three championship courses, including the PGA Centenary that hosted the 2014 Ryder Cup, plus the hotel, dining and event space to run a polished day. Fairmont St Andrews and Trump Turnberry are the next picks, both resorts with multiple courses and the infrastructure to host groups beside famous links.

How big a group can these venues handle?

The resort venues are built for scale. Gleneagles, Fairmont St Andrews, Carnoustie and Dalmahoy can run shotgun starts and societies of forty or more across two or three courses, with catering, prize space and accommodation on site. The more exclusive links such as Turnberry's Ailsa suit smaller, higher end groups. We match the venue and format to your numbers.

How much does a corporate golf day in Scotland cost?

It depends on the venue, season and extras. Green fees at the resort courses indicatively run from about 90 to 250 pounds a head in the 2026 season, while the marquee Open links such as Turnberry's Ailsa and Carnoustie's Championship sit well above that. Packages add catering, accommodation and prizes. Summer is dearest and books out early. We cost the whole day to the head; always confirm directly before booking.

When is the best time for a corporate golf trip to Scotland?

May to September gives the best weather, the firmest links and the long northern evenings, and it is also the busiest and dearest window, so the flagship venues book months ahead. Late spring and early autumn are a good balance of price and conditions. The west coast and the inland resorts play later into the year, weather permitting.
