The Best Golf Courses in Slovenia
Slovenia packs Alpine lakes, karst plateau and castle parkland into a country you can cross in three hours, and its small golf scene mirrors that variety. The flagship sits beside Lake Bled, the rest scatter from Ljubljana to the Adriatic. Our ranked five, with the verdict on each, the designers and indicative 2026 green fees.

How we ranked them
Golf is a young pursuit in Slovenia and the country counts only a handful of full courses, which makes choosing where to play refreshingly simple. The strength is the scenery and the range of it, from a championship parkland under the Julian Alps beside one of Europe's most photographed lakes to wooded valley layouts near the capital, a castle course on the Croatian border and a nine hole karst track close to the sea. We weight the quality and variety of the holes, the conditioning and the sense of place, leaning toward courses that pair a genuine test with a setting you cannot find elsewhere. For most visitors the natural trip is Bled for the headline round, with one or two more on the way in from Ljubljana or out toward the coast.
The ranking
Royal Bled, King's Course
The finest round in the country and one of the prettiest in Europe, an 18 hole parkland laid out on the original 1937 site and redesigned by the Swiss architect Donald Harradine in 1972, later refined and extended to around 6,650 metres by Swan Golf Designs. The holes run through mature woodland under the Julian Alps a few minutes from Lake Bled, its island church and cliff top castle. Serene, beautifully conditioned and the obvious centrepiece of any Slovenian golf trip. A nine hole Lake Course sits alongside.
Indicative 2026 green fee around €90 to €130. Always confirm directly before booking.Golf Arboretum
Set amid pine forest beside the most visited botanical garden in Slovenia, Arboretum Volcji Potok, this 18 hole course was begun by the Italian architect Marco Croze in 1998 and completed with a second nine three years later alongside Peter Skofic. Long and generously framed by trees, it is the natural choice for a round near the capital and pairs easily with a Ljubljana city stay or a drive on toward Bled.
Indicative 2026 green fee around €45 to €70. Always confirm directly before booking.Golf Grad Mokrice
A second Donald Harradine design, an 18 hole par 71 of about 5,835 metres laid out across roughly 70 hectares around a turreted medieval castle in the far southeast of the country, close to the Croatian border. The castle now runs as a hotel, which makes Mokrice the most complete stay and play base in Slovenia and an easy add for travellers combining the Bled and Zagreb regions.
Indicative 2026 green fee around €40 to €65. Always confirm directly before booking.Golf Ptuj
Beside Slovenia's oldest town in the wine country of the northeast, Golf Ptuj plays as an 18 hole par 72 of around 6,360 metres, notable for the water hazards threaded through the layout. Gentle and well kept, it suits a relaxed round on a tour through the Styrian thermal spas and vineyards, and combines neatly with the spa resorts of the region.
Indicative 2026 green fee around €40 to €60. Always confirm directly before booking.Golf Lipica
On the karst plateau near the oldest stud farm in Europe and a short drive from the Adriatic, Lipica is a nine hole par 37 of about 3,163 metres. The Mediterranean climate means it plays close to year round, the most reliable winter golf in the country, and the setting among the stone walls and Lipizzaner horses is unlike anywhere else in Slovenia. A pleasant detour rather than a destination round.
