The Best Golf Courses in Los Cabos

Where the desert of Baja California meets the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez, Los Cabos has built, in barely two decades, the most concentrated collection of world ranked courses in the hemisphere. The names read like a who's who of design, Nicklaus, Love, Fazio, Weiskopf and Woods. Our ranked five, with the verdict on each, the designers, the access reality and indicative 2026 green fees.

How we ranked them

No golf destination has risen faster than Los Cabos, and the corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo now holds a remarkable cluster of courses ranked among the world's hundred greatest. We weight the quality and drama of the holes, the design pedigree and the conditioning, but in Cabos one extra factor matters as much, access. Several of the very best layouts sit inside private Discovery Land communities and play only for members and their guests, while a handful are open to resort guests for a fee. We have noted this honestly under each entry, because a course you cannot get on is no use to a trip. For most travellers the playable trip is built around Quivira and Cabo del Sol, with the private gems reserved for those with a member to host them.

The ranking

1

Diamante, Dunes Course

Davis Love III, opened 2009 · Pacific coast, north of Cabo San Lucas · private

The course that started the Cabos boom and still its finest, a Davis Love III design of about 7,160 yards opened in 2009 on a stretch of natural Pacific dunes north of Cabo San Lucas. Firm, fast and minimalist in the great seaside tradition, it ranks inside Golf Digest's World's 100 Greatest and is routinely named the best course in Mexico. Part of the private Diamante community, so play is for members and their guests, alongside a Tiger Woods design, El Cardonal, on the same property.

Private. Access for members and accompanied guests. Confirm arrangements well ahead.
2

Quivira Golf Club

Jack Nicklaus, opened 2014 · Cabo San Lucas, Pacific cliffs · resort guests

The most jaw dropping round you can actually book, a Jack Nicklaus design of around 7,085 yards opened in 2014 on the cliffs and dunes at the very tip of Baja. Holes plunge from rocky headlands to greens notched above the Pacific, with the par 3s at the sixth and thirteenth among the most photographed in golf. Open to guests of the Pueblo Bonito and Quivira resorts, it is the headline playable round of any Cabos trip.

Indicative 2026 high season resort guest green fee around US$365 to US$450. Always confirm directly before booking.
3

El Dorado Golf and Beach Club

Jack Nicklaus, opened 2010 · Sea of Cortez coast · private

A Jack Nicklaus design opened in 2010 along the Sea of Cortez, blending shaded arroyos, towering sandhills and a rugged coastline into one of his most admired modern courses. The centrepiece of an exclusive Discovery Land community with a beach club and fine dining, El Dorado is members only, and consistently ranks among the best in Mexico. A genuine top three Cabos course for those fortunate enough to gain entry through a member.

Private, members only. Play generally requires a member host. Confirm arrangements well ahead.
4

Cabo del Sol, Cove Club

Jack Nicklaus, opened 1994 · tourist corridor · resort access

The course that first put Cabos on the golf map, a Jack Nicklaus design opened in 1994 along the tourist corridor, long celebrated for an ocean stretch that Nicklaus himself called the finest three finishing holes in golf. Now branded the Cove Club, it remains a benchmark seaside test of about 7,090 yards and, crucially, is reachable for resort and stay and play guests. The reliable second pillar of a bookable Cabos trip alongside Quivira.

Indicative 2026 high season green fee around US$300 to US$425. Always confirm directly before booking.
5

Chileno Bay Golf and Beach Club

Tom Fazio, opened 2016 · Chileno Bay · members and resort guests

The lone Tom Fazio design in the region, opened in 2016 above Chileno Bay between the two Cabos towns, a polished and beautifully maintained layout with sweeping views down to the Sea of Cortez. Part of a Discovery Land community, it is primarily private but is reachable by guests staying within Chileno Bay, which earns it a place on a high end trip. Rounds out the corridor's strongest five.

Largely private, access for members and Chileno Bay resort guests. Confirm arrangements well ahead.
