Who this trip suits

A Ryder Cup is the rare golf trip that is as much spectacle as sport, and 2027 is a special one: the hundredth anniversary year of the match, staged in Ireland for the first time since the K Club in 2006, on one of the most lavishly rebuilt courses in the game. It suits the group that wants to be inside the ropes for the biggest week in golf, then pair it with a few rounds on the greatest links in the world an hour or two down the road. Buddies trips, corporate groups and serious fans all build the same trip: days at the matches, rounds on the Kerry and Clare links, and Adare village and Limerick as a base.

The important thing to understand is how the week works. Tickets are scarce and allocated by an official public ballot, so the spectating has to be planned first and far ahead. The golf, the hotels and the transfers around it are where a planner earns their keep, because every bed within reach of Adare is spoken for early and the marquee tee times at Ballybunion and Lahinch sell out a season in advance. Get the framework right and you have the trip of a lifetime; leave it late and you are watching from home.

Dates, the ballot and ticket prices

The 2027 Ryder Cup runs across the week of September 13 to 19, 2027. Practice rounds and the opening ceremony fall earlier in the week, and the three days of matches, the Friday and Saturday foursomes and fourballs and the Sunday singles, are played on September 17, 18 and 19. General admission is allocated by a public ballot run by Ryder Cup Europe rather than sold on a first come basis, with the Adare Manor ballot having opened in June 2026 and applicants able to request up to four tickets per day. GolfForKings does not sell match tickets; apply through the official Ryder Cup channel.

The venue, and the links to add around it

Adare Manor

Tom Fazio redesign, 2018 · Par 72 · 7,509 yards

The host course, rebuilt from the ground up by Tom Fazio and Tom Marzolf for owner JP McManus and reopened in 2018, with water in play on fourteen of its eighteen holes and a five star manor hotel alongside. It hosted the JP McManus Pro-Am in 2022 and is the centrepiece of the resort. Tee times around the Ryder Cup week are extremely limited, so a planner is essential.

Ballybunion, Old Course

County Kerry · about 75 minutes from Adare

The course Tom Watson called the best in the world to learn links golf, a roller coaster of giant dunes hard against the Atlantic in north Kerry. The obvious headline round to pair with the matches, an easy drive south west of Adare and a fitting companion to a Ryder Cup week.

Lahinch, Old Course

Old Tom Morris and Alister MacKenzie · County Clare

The St Andrews of Ireland, a quirky, joyful links in a Clare seaside town with the blind Klondyke and Dell holes intact. North of Adare and a natural pairing with a night in Clare, or with the Cliffs of Moher on a non golf day.

Tralee and Trump Doonbeg

Arnold Palmer · Greg Norman · Kerry and Clare

Two more modern links to round out the trip. Tralee is Arnold Palmer's first European design, thrilling along the beach and into towering dunes, while Trump Doonbeg in Clare brings a luxury resort and a crescent beach. Either makes a strong third or fourth round between days at the matches.

Course facts verified June 2026. Distances are approximate driving times from Adare and depend on traffic and route. Visitor access and fees change, so always confirm directly before booking.

A sample Ryder Cup week

Day 1

Arrive and base near Adare or Limerick

Fly into Shannon, around forty minutes from Adare, or Dublin for the wider choice of flights and a scenic drive west. Settle into a base within reach of the venue.

Day 2

Ballybunion, Old Course

A links day south west in Kerry before the crowds build, the perfect warm up to the week and one of the great rounds in golf.

Day 3

Practice day at Adare Manor

Walk the rebuilt Fazio course with the players up close on a practice day, the most relaxed way to see the venue and find your vantage points.

Days 4 to 5

Friday and Saturday matches

The foursomes and fourballs, the heart of the Ryder Cup, with a transfer plan and an early start to beat the gates each morning.

Day 6

Lahinch or a rest day

A round in Clare for the keenest, or a quieter day in Adare village and Limerick to recharge before the finale.

Day 7

Sunday singles

The singles and the climax of the match, then a final night to celebrate before flying home from Shannon or Dublin.

Getting there: Shannon is the closest airport at around forty minutes, with Dublin about two and a half hours by road. A private driver is close to essential during the event, when local roads and parking are heavily managed. Expect shuttle and park and ride arrangements published by the organisers closer to the week.

Where to stay

Beds near Adare are the scarcest part of the whole trip and the first thing to lock down. The Adare Manor hotel itself is tiny relative to demand and effectively unavailable to the public that week, so most groups base in Limerick city, in the surrounding County Limerick countryside, or further out in Killarney and County Clare and drive in. Killarney is a lively, well equipped base that also puts the Kerry links within reach, while a Clare base pairs the matches with Lahinch and Doonbeg. Whichever you choose, book a year ahead and let one planner line up the hotel, the driver and the golf as a single plan.
