Who it suits

Winter sun and serious variety

Florida suits almost every golf trip. It pairs dependable winter warmth with the deepest bench of courses in the country, from destination resorts to PGA Tour stages, and it is an easy flight from much of North America and Europe.

It works for a focused buddies week at Streamsong, a bucket list round at TPC Sawgrass, or a family friendly Orlando base where the golf shares the trip with theme parks and beaches. Most groups pick one hub and add a day trip or two.

The line up

The Florida courses to build around

Anchor the trip on one of these hubs, each a strong base in its own right, then add the nearby rounds that fit your group and budget.

01

Streamsong Resort

Central Florida · Bowling Green · Three courses

The standout pure golf resort in the state, built on reclaimed phosphate mining land with sandy, dune like terrain. The Red by Coore and Crenshaw and the Blue by Tom Doak lead the way, with the Hanse designed Black a firm, fast joy in winter.

02

TPC Sawgrass, Players Stadium

Ponte Vedra Beach · Pete Dye · Home of The Players

A bucket list round and one of the most recognisable courses in golf, with the par 3 seventeenth and its island green. Stay at the Sawgrass Marriott for the friendliest access and play the Dye Valley course alongside.

03

PGA National Resort

Palm Beach Gardens · The Champion · Bear Trap finish

A full resort with several courses, led by the Champion and its famous Bear Trap stretch, host of the PGA Tour's Cognizant Classic. A polished Palm Beach base with spa, dining and easy airport access.

04

Orlando resorts

Central Florida · Bay Hill, Grand Cypress, Reunion

The widest spread of resort golf and the easiest family base, from Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill to the multi course Reunion and Grand Cypress. Theme parks, dining and a major airport keep non golfers happy too.

05

Naples and the Gulf coast

Southwest Florida · Tiburon, upscale resorts

Florida's smartest golf and beach pairing, with Tiburon at the Ritz-Carlton and a cluster of upscale resort courses. A relaxed, polished base for couples and golfers who want the Gulf sunsets too.

06

Miami, Doral and the southeast

Greater Miami · Trump Doral, Blue Monster

For city and golf in one, the Miami area pairs the famous Blue Monster at Doral with the energy of South Beach. A lively base that mixes championship golf with nightlife and the Keys within reach.

When to book

November to April is the window

The cool, dry season from November to April is Florida at its golfing best, warm sunny days, firm courses and the snowbird crowd in town. It is also the priciest and busiest window, so book the marquee rounds and resorts early, especially around the holidays and spring break.

Summer is hot, humid and prone to afternoon storms, which pushes play to early morning but slashes green fees, a real value window for those who can take the heat. A hire car is essential for the longer hops, and The Players week in March pairs morning golf with watching the best in the world.

Good to know

Florida golf holidays: common questions

Where is the best golf in Florida?

It depends on the trip. Streamsong in central Florida is the standout pure golf resort, with three acclaimed courses. Ponte Vedra Beach on the northeast coast is home to TPC Sawgrass, while Palm Beach Gardens has PGA National and Orlando offers the widest spread of resort courses and family appeal. Most visitors base in one hub and add a day trip or two.

When is the best time for a Florida golf holiday?

The cool, dry winter and spring, roughly November to April, is peak golf season, with warm sunny days and the courses in fine order. This is also the busiest and dearest window. Summer is hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms, so play moves to early morning and green fees fall sharply.

How much are green fees in Florida in 2026?

It is a wide range. Marquee rounds such as TPC Sawgrass Players Stadium or the Streamsong courses can run several hundred dollars in peak winter season, while excellent resort and daily fee courses sit well below that, and many fall to a fraction in summer. Indicative figures only, always confirm directly before booking.

Can you fly direct to Florida for golf?

Yes. Orlando, Miami, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville all take direct flights from much of North America and Europe, so most golf hubs are within an hour or two of a major airport, which is part of Florida's appeal as a golf destination.
