Couples Golf Trips to Greece
Four championship courses on the Ionian coast, a 4,000 square metre spa, Voidokilia lagoon fifteen minutes away and medieval Methoni half an hour south. Costa Navarino in Messinia is where a golfer and a non-golfing partner both run out of day before they run out of things to do.

Why Greece works so well for a couples golf trip
The difficulty with most golf resort destinations is that the trip is built around one player and the other is an afterthought. Greece, and Costa Navarino in Messinia in particular, fixes that. The resort sits on a stretch of southwest Peloponnese coastline where four signature courses meet a spa operation of real ambition, a long sandy beach, a historic port town and one of the most photographed lagoon landscapes in Europe. A couple here can split mornings naturally: one on the fairways, the other on a sunbed at the Ionian Sea or in the hands of the Anazoe Spa, and then come together for lunch, a boat trip to Methoni or a slow evening at one of forty restaurant and bar venues across the estate.
It suits two golfers equally well. The courses span three design eras and two different landscapes, so mixing them across a five or six night stay gives a genuine sense of variety rather than repetition. For the wider picture of golf in Greece, our destination hub covers the whole country. Our best golf courses in Greece listing covers the full ranking.
The courses at Costa Navarino
All four courses are managed by Costa Navarino Golf and are reserved for guests of the resort hotels. What a non-golfing partner can do
The Anazoe Spa at Navarino Dunes is 4,000 square metres of hydrotherapy pools, thalassotherapy treatments and a full body and beauty programme. It is one of the most awarded spa facilities in the Mediterranean and can fill a morning or an entire day. The beach at Navarino Dunes is long, calm and easily reached from any of the resort hotels, and the water sports programme runs from kayaking and paddleboarding through to scuba diving and yachting on the bay.
Away from the resort, the setting is exceptional. Voidokilia beach, a near-perfect horseshoe of sand enclosing a lagoon, is a fifteen minute drive north and is listed among the finest beaches in Europe. The Venetian castle at Methoni, connected to the mainland by a causeway over the sea, is thirty minutes south and one of the best preserved Venetian fortresses anywhere in the Mediterranean. The port town of Pylos sits minutes from the Navarino Hills entrance, with waterfront cafes, a castle of its own and a square framed by the kind of plane trees that make even an errand feel like a reason to linger.
Back on the estate, the outdoor Agora marketplaces host open air cinema evenings, wine tasting sessions and live music, which means the evenings are as full as the days if a couple wants them to be. Tennis, padel, cooking classes and a children's programme make it equally logical for couples who travel with family. For more on planning a full week see our luxury golf tours of Greece page.
A sample 6 night couples itinerary
The structure below balances rounds for the golfer with spa, beach and cultural time for a non-golfing partner. Two golfers travelling together can substitute the partner activities with a second round. Indicative per-head package ranges follow the day-by-day plan.
Day 1 · Arrive into Kalamata
Kalamata International Airport is around forty minutes from Costa Navarino. The first afternoon is for settling into the resort, a walk to the beach and a dinner at one of the waterfront venues. No golf yet; let the place reveal itself slowly.
Day 2 · The Dunes Course and the Anazoe Spa
The golfer plays the Dunes Course, Bernhard Langer's links-style layout through the dunes behind the Ionian shoreline, the first signature course built in Greece and still the one most people arrive wanting to play. The non-golfer spends the morning at the Anazoe Spa, moves to the beach for the afternoon, and the couple meets for a late lunch at the Agora. Evening is a table at one of the waterfront restaurants with a local Messinian wine list.
Day 3 · Voidokilia and Pylos
A rest day from golf. Both partners drive the fifteen minutes to Voidokilia, walk the lagoon path and spend time on the beach before heading into Pylos for lunch on the harbour square. The afternoon is free: the spa, a second beach visit or a boat trip on the bay are all easy to arrange through the resort concierge.
Day 4 · The Bay Course and a spa morning
Robert Trent Jones II's Bay Course, opened in 2011, wraps around the coastline with sea views on nearly every hole. The golfer is out early. The non-golfer takes a slow spa morning, a fitness class or a paddleboarding lesson before lunch together at the resort. The afternoon is a shared excursion south to the Venetian castle at Methoni.
Day 5 · Navarino Hills and the Olympic Course
The drive to Navarino Hills takes under fifteen minutes but feels like a different landscape entirely: inland, elevated, with views across olive groves to the Bay of Navarino. The golfer plays The International Olympic Academy Golf Course, Jose Maria Olazabal's 2022 design. The non-golfer uses the morning for a cultural visit to Ancient Pylos or a cooking class, then the couple reconnects for an afternoon wine tasting at one of the resort's Agora venues and an open air cinema evening.
Day 6 · Optional Hills Course or leisure morning
Two golfers can take on The Hills Course, Olazabal's second 2022 design at Navarino Hills, for a back-to-back comparison across the same hilltop property. A single golfer may prefer a nine hole loop or a lesson at the golf academy while a non-golfing partner has a final spa treatment or a long beach morning. Lunch together, a slow afternoon packing and one last dinner at the resort.
Day 7 · Depart via Kalamata
A beach breakfast or a final coffee at the Agora before the forty minute transfer to the airport. Greece will have done its job.

Choosing a resort hotel
The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort is the original flagship at Navarino Dunes, a sprawling stone property with direct beach access, the full Anazoe Spa on its doorstep and the most generous room to resort ratio of any of the four hotels. It suits couples who want space, calm and the feeling that the resort was built around them.
The Westin Resort Costa Navarino shares the Navarino Dunes estate with the Romanos and accesses the same Dunes Course and Bay Course. It is the more active, family-oriented of the two Dunes properties and tends to be the better value choice for couples who are happy with a slightly more energetic atmosphere in exchange for a lower nightly rate.
W Costa Navarino is adult-only, positioned on its own stretch of the estate and designed with couples in mind from the layout upward. Contemporary rooms, a signature pool scene and a direct attitude make it the natural choice for a couple in their thirties or forties who want the Costa Navarino product with a younger, more social feel.
Mandarin Oriental Costa Navarino opened to complement the existing resort hotels and adds an additional level of service and suite product to the estate. Couples booking here typically want the Mandarin service standard alongside the Costa Navarino course and landscape offer. For a group trip rather than a couple, our golf society trips to Greece page covers group logistics in detail.
All four resorts access the same four golf courses through the Costa Navarino Golf operation. Rates, golf package inclusions and priority booking windows differ by hotel, so we recommend comparing them directly when you enquire. Use the form below and our concierge will set the options out side by side. Check hotel availability.
Crete: an alternative couples golf destination in Greece
If Messinia is out of reach on dates or budget, Crete offers a workable alternative. The Crete Golf Club near Hersonissos, designed by Bob Hunt and originally opened in 2003, was extensively upgraded and reopened in October 2015. It is an 18-hole par 72 layout covering 5,484 metres, fifteen minutes from Heraklion International Airport and set against the backdrop of the Cretan hills. Indicative green fees in 2026 are around 110 euros per round, making it the more accessible entry point to golf in Greece. Crete's hotel and beach offer is far wider than Messinia's, and the island suits a couple who want golf as one item on a broader holiday agenda rather than the central organising principle. For Greece-wide trip options see our luxury golf tours of Greece and all-inclusive golf Greece pages.

Frequently asked
Why is Greece a great couples golf destination?
Costa Navarino in Messinia concentrates four world-class championship courses, award-winning spa facilities, a long Ionian coastline and some of the best-preserved medieval castles in Europe all within one resort complex. A golfer and a non-golfing partner have equal amounts to fill their days without either one waiting on the other. The climate is warm and dry from April to October, the food and wine are outstanding, and the scale of the resort means a couple can be as sociable or as private as they choose.
Which golf courses should couples play at Costa Navarino?
The Dunes Course, designed by Bernhard Langer with European Golf Design and opened in 2010, is the flagship and runs through sand dunes beside the Ionian Sea. The Bay Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones II and opened in 2011, wraps around a coastal bay with panoramic water views. The Hills Course and The International Olympic Academy Golf Course, both designed by Jose Maria Olazabal and opened in 2022 at Navarino Hills near Pylos, offer a contrasting inland and olive grove landscape. Indicative 2026 green fees run from around 160 to 245 euros depending on the course, the season and your resort hotel. Always confirm directly before booking.
What can a non-golfing partner do at Costa Navarino?
The Anazoe Spa covers 4,000 square metres with hydrotherapy, thalassotherapy and a full treatment menu. Water sports, scuba diving, yachting, padel, tennis and cooking classes are all on the resort calendar. Culturally, the lagoon beach of Voidokilia is a fifteen minute drive, the Venetian castle at Methoni is thirty minutes south and the port town of Pylos sits minutes from the Navarino Hills entrance. Evenings centre on the open air Agora with restaurants, wine tasting and a cinema under the stars.
When is the best time for a couples golf trip to Greece?
April to June is the sweet spot: courses in peak condition, beaches warm but uncrowded and prices below the high season peak. September and October are equally attractive, with softer light, quieter fairways and the best water temperatures of the year. July and August are hot, courses and resorts are at capacity, and green fees are at their highest. Couples with flexibility are better served by the shoulder season on either side. The resort is closed through most of winter.
