Who this trip suits

The Alabama Gulf Coast is the value play of American golf travel: championship courses on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, a grand old bay front resort to come home to, and the white sand beaches of Gulf Shores within easy reach. It suits a buddies group chasing a lot of good golf for the money, and couples who want the golf paired with a beach, a spa and Lowcountry cooking.

Base the trip on Mobile Bay, play the Trail by day, and you get a week that feels far more expensive than it is. Read how access works in our Alabama and Gulf Coast playing guide, then let us assemble the package.

The courses to build around

1

Lakewood Club, Point Clear · Azalea and Dogwood courses

Lakewood Club at the Grand Hotel

The Trail's coastal jewel, set among ancient oaks beside the historic Grand Hotel on Mobile Bay. The original 18 holes date to 1947 by Perry Maxwell; the Dogwood was renovated in 2018 and the Azalea reopened in 2019. Two walkable, handsome resort courses on the doorstep of your hotel.

2

Magnolia Grove, Mobile · Crossings and Falls courses

Magnolia Grove

A Robert Trent Jones Trail original from 1992 across creeks, marshes and lakes. The Crossings has hosted the LPGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour, an open parkland test; the Falls, reopened in 2010, is the only par 71 on the Trail. A 54 hole site with a short course, ideal for a big golf day.

3

Gulf Shores and Orange Beach · coastal add ons

The beach courses

South of the bay, the resort and daily fee courses around Gulf Shores and Orange Beach round out a week, with the Gulf beaches a few minutes away. Pair a couple of these with the Trail rounds for a classic golf and beach blend.
