Ryder Cup 2027 at Adare Manor: Early Preview
The Ryder Cup returns to Ireland for the first time since 2006, and the first time ever to Adare Manor, on September 17 to 19, 2027. Here is what is already known, and why the centenary edition is shaping up as a special one.
The 46th Ryder Cup will be staged at the Golf Course at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland, from Friday September 17 to Sunday September 19, 2027, with four build up days from Monday September 13. It is the first Ryder Cup held in Ireland since the K Club in 2006, and it carries extra weight as the centenary edition, marking a hundred years since the first match in 1927. More than a year out, the shape of the week is already coming into view.
The venue
Adare Manor is not a links. It is a lush, parkland estate course that Tom Fazio comprehensively rebuilt in 2017 and 2018, and it has since hosted the JP McManus Pro-Am that drew the world's best players to Limerick. The manor house, the River Maigue and the manicured conditioning give it a very different character from the seaside venues Ireland is famous for, and it will present as one of the most immaculate stages the Ryder Cup has used. For the wider region, see our guide to golf in Ireland.
The captains
Luke Donald leads Europe for a third consecutive time, the first European captain to do so since Bernard Gallacher in 1991, 1993 and 1995, following his winning campaigns in Rome and at Bethpage. Jim Furyk captains the United States, with Justin Leonard and Stewart Cink already named among his assistants, while Edoardo Molinari returns as a Donald vice captain. Continuity on the European side and a fresh leadership group for the visitors is the early storyline.
What is at stake
Home advantage in the Ryder Cup has been decisive for years, and Europe will start as favourites on a course set up to suit them. But the United States will arrive with a point to prove after recent away defeats, and the centenary framing guarantees a charged atmosphere in a country that loves the event. The qualifying races on both sides run through the 2027 season, so the rosters are wide open at this stage.
Planning a trip
Ryder Cup tickets are allocated by ballot and demand will be enormous, but the bigger opportunity for most travelling golfers is to build a playing trip to the southwest of Ireland around the event window or the year before. Limerick sits within easy reach of some of the greatest links on earth, from Ballybunion to Lahinch and the Dingle peninsula, which makes a Ireland golf holiday the natural way to experience the region. Our take
Adare Manor is a bold choice, a polished parkland rather than a windswept links, and the contrast with what people expect from Irish golf is exactly what will make the week memorable. Expect a beautiful, benign setting that puts the emphasis on the matches themselves. We will update this preview as the qualifying picture and the course set up firm up through 2027.
