3 Day Myrtle Beach Golf Itinerary
Ninety courses, three rounds, no wasted swings: the Dunes Club for the pedigree, Caledonia for the beauty, True Blue for the wild card. Here is the long weekend done properly.

The shape of the weekend
Myrtle Beach is the easiest golf trip in America to do badly. With more than 90 courses on the Grand Strand, the temptation is to chase deals and play three forgettable layouts. Resist it. The Strand's true top shelf is small and specific: the Dunes Golf and Beach Club at the north end, and the two Mike Strantz designs, Caledonia and True Blue, facing each other across a road on Pawleys Island, 40 minutes south. Play those three and you have had a great golf trip by any standard, not just a cheap one.
Book as a package. The premium courses route most visitor play through package operators and partner hotels, Caledonia's own vacation arm requires three rounds or a three night stay and play, and bundled rates nearly always beat walk up fees. Base yourself once, mid Strand or Pawleys Island, and let the drives stay short. Where to stay: [HOTEL_AFFILIATE_LINK]. Book tee times: [TEE_TIME_AFFILIATE_LINK]
Day by day
The Dunes Golf and Beach Club
Robert Trent Jones Sr, 1949, and still ranked the number one course in Myrtle Beach by Golf Digest, Golf Magazine and Golfweek. The club is private and member owned with limited outside access through approved package providers, so this is the tee time the whole trip gets built around. Waterloo, the boomerang par 5 13th around Lake Singleton, is the most famous hole on the Strand. Seafood on the Ocean Drive end afterward.
Caledonia Golf and Fish Club
Mike Strantz's first solo design, 1994, built on an old rice plantation under moss draped live oaks, and a fixture on national top 100 public lists ever since it opened. It is short by modern standards and all the better for it; the approach over water to the 18th, with the clubhouse porch watching, is the shot you will replay all winter. Late August 2026 practice round rates start around 79 dollars; spring is the premium window. Stay south for dinner at Murrells Inlet's MarshWalk.
True Blue
Strantz again, 1998, Caledonia's wilder sibling: huge sandy waste areas, heaving fairways and greens with real menace. It is the course the locals argue is the better test, and pairing it with Caledonia makes the natural 36 hole finale for groups who want one last lap before the drive to the airport. If the legs are gone, TPC Myrtle Beach, the Tom Fazio design ten minutes north, is the gentler swap.

Timing and logistics
Spring, March through May, is the Grand Strand's prime season and prices like it; fall is nearly as good and slightly kinder on the wallet. Summer is hot, humid and cheap, with late August value windows on even the premium tee sheets. Winter golf is playable most weeks and costs the least of all. Fly into Myrtle Beach International, ten minutes from the mid Strand hotels; a rental car is essential for the Pawleys Island days.
If the group wants a bigger build, the same coast rewards more nights: our South Carolina packages page adds Kiawah and Hilton Head to the picture, and the South Carolina tee times guide covers the booking windows course by course.

Myrtle Beach itinerary questions
Can you play the Dunes Club as a visitor?
Yes, within limits. The Dunes Golf and Beach Club, the Robert Trent Jones Sr design of 1949, is a private member owned club that grants limited outside access, generally through approved Myrtle Beach package providers and partner hotels. It is consistently ranked the number one course on the Grand Strand, so book it first.
How do Myrtle Beach golf packages work?
Operators bundle rounds and lodging across the Grand Strand's 90 plus courses, and the premium courses often require a multi round commitment; Caledonia's own vacation arm asks for three rounds, or three nights with three rounds for stay and play. Packages almost always beat rack rate green fees. Always confirm pricing directly before booking.
When is the best time for a Myrtle Beach golf trip?
Spring, March to May, is prime and priced like it. Fall runs it close with warm seas and firm turf. Summer is hot, humid and cheap; late August brings value windows, with practice round rates at Caledonia from about 79 dollars in 2026. Winter is playable most weeks at the year's lowest prices.
Which course should I drop if I only have two rounds?
Keep Caledonia and the Dunes Club. True Blue, Mike Strantz's wilder 1998 sibling across the road from Caledonia, is the natural third and the first to cut, though many groups do both Pawleys Island courses in one day, 36 holes across the street from each other.
