3 Day Lake Garda Golf Itinerary

A long weekend where the golf comes with cypress hills, vineyards and a view of Italy's most beautiful lake: a modern resort course on the gentle south, a championship 27 holes in the middle, and a 1912 classic clinging to the dramatic western shore. Three rounds, one easy base, and the food and wine of Lombardy and the Veneto around every green. Here is the plan, day by day.

Who this trip suits

This is the itinerary for the golfer who wants the game and the holiday in equal measure: three contrasting Lake Garda courses, almost no driving, and the lake, the wine and the lakeside towns of Sirmione and Desenzano on the doorstep. Verona airport is half an hour from the southern shore, the three courses sit within about 40 minutes of one base, and a couple or a small group can play golf in the mornings and explore the lake in the afternoons without ever feeling rushed.

It also pairs naturally with a longer Italian golf trip. Add a day on the eastern shore at Ca degli Ulivi or push west toward the lakes of Lombardy, and the long weekend becomes a full week. For the wider picture, see our guide to golf in Lake Garda and the region's best courses.

The 3 day plan

Day 1Chervo San Vigilio

Chervo Golf San Vigilio

Kurt Rossknecht design · 27 holes · Pozzolengo, southern Garda

Open the trip on the most modern course of the three, a Kurt Rossknecht layout rolling over the gentle moraine hills between Desenzano and Sirmione. Chervo offers 27 championship holes, the Benaco, Solferino and San Martino loops, plus a short executive course, all on generous, well drained turf that eases you into the trip. The resort hotel makes a fine first night base, with lunch on the terrace part of the appeal. About 20 minutes from Gardagolf and a short hop from the southern lake towns. Day 2Gardagolf

Gardagolf Country Club

Cotton, Pennink, Steel & Partners · 1986 · Italian Open host

The championship round. Gardagolf at Soiano del Lago, opened in 1986 and designed by Cotton, Pennink, Steel and Partners, is widely rated among the finest courses in Italy and has hosted the Italian Open three times, in 1997, 2003 and 2018. The par 72 main 18 climbs and falls through olive groves and cypress on the Brescia side of the lake, with a third nine alongside, and it is the sternest and most rewarding test of the three. Indicative 2026 peak fees around 100 to 120 euros. Our Gardagolf profile has the detail.

Day 3Golf Bogliaco

Golf Bogliaco

Founded 1912 · par 70 · western shore

Finish on the romance round. Golf Bogliaco, founded in 1912, is the third oldest course in Italy, set on the steep western shore near Gargnano with the lake and the mountains filling every view. Extended to 18 holes in 2004 and playing as a par 70 since 2017, it is a charming, characterful test where the lake views matter as much as the card. A spectacular, history rich way to close a Garda golf trip. About 40 minutes from the southern base; pair it with lunch in lakeside Gargnano.

When to go and where to stay

April to June and September to October are the windows, with warm, settled weather, the courses in fine condition and the lake at its most enjoyable before and after the high summer crowds. July and August are hot and busy with lakeside tourism, while the milder southern courses can play through a quiet winter. Base on the southern shore around Sirmione, Desenzano or Padenghe for the shortest drives and the best of the lakeside restaurants, or take the resort room at Chervo for golf on the doorstep. A hire car makes the trip, and leaves the afternoons free for the towns, the vineyards of Lugana and Valpolicella, and a swim in the lake.
