The short answer
Royal Portrush is the most sought after tee time in Ireland, and the price reflects it. For the 2026 high season, from April 1 to October 31, a round on the championship Dunluce Links costs 420 GBP for visitors, while the quieter, brilliant Valley Links is 200 GBP. Fees ease outside the main season, and a Golf Ireland rate for fourballs from the island of Ireland is available on request, subject to availability.
The Dunluce is a Harry Colt masterpiece, reworked by Colt in the early 1930s, a par 72 of about 7,300 yards from the championship tees that hosted The Open in 1951, 2019 and again as the 153rd Open in July 2025. The Valley, also a Colt layout, is a par 70 of roughly 6,300 yards and one of the best second courses in the game. Both reward the golfer who books early and arrives ready for the wind off the Atlantic.

How to get the round you want
The single biggest factor at Portrush is lead time. The Dunluce books out months ahead in the warm season, and the prime late morning windows are the first to go. If your group wants a specific date, treat the tee time as the fixed point of the trip and build the rest of the week around it. A two round day, the Dunluce in the morning and the Valley in the afternoon, is the most efficient way to enjoy both for the same trip.
The Valley is the smart play for value and for a gentler introduction to the wind. It shares the same magnificent duneland and is a genuine championship test in its own right at less than half the Dunluce fee. Many traveling golfers pair the two, and a society or buddies group can get a full day of Colt links golf without the premium of two Dunluce rounds.
